I sympathize with the other digital retailers. Steam is a great service, but it should not be required to purchase a game, especially when bought from alternative services.

People are complaining that Borderlands requires Gamespy. Is that disdain not for all services?

As if Cashtivision care about PC players, i bet they just want us to not buy it so they can scrap supporting it.

I don't know about his grammar, but I don't understand what he's trying to say.

English is my second language, so what?

I'm not really sure how this is a bad thing. Did anyone ever try updating World at War after installing it? Christ on a stick that was a painful experience. As far as I'm concerned anything that makes updating it easier is a step in the right direction, even if it limits the number of digital retailers.

Here's the thing. D2D has been nothing but problems for me. Most games that I got from there would be slow to patch (if ever) and I had more problems then not. Now, Steam on the other hand I've never had problems with slow updates. Here's the thing, Steam offers a cheap and non-intrusive counter-piracy method. We could have obnoxious tools like Stardock in our software or we could use something that brings the benifit of Xbox Live like experience with community tools and achievements and prevents piracy. Hmmm tough call. Frankly services like Direct 2 Drive are going to have to learn to get over it because in the end it makes a ton more sense and unless they get on board they are dooming them selves to obscurity.

@Hedgeson: Either you're a total idiot or just a dick, I understand what he's saying perfectly. Hell, I know Americans who write worse than him.

I'm sure this is all Activision's decision--I can't imagine why it wouldn't be. Infinity Ward may have developed the game, but Activision is in charge of the money.

I'm trying as hard as I can to NOT buy MW2 because of my hatred for Activision, their CEO, their crappy music games, expensive peripherals, etc. I think they are the most evil company in gaming these days.

IW is probably thinking why dedicate the extra time and resources to the PC when their previous game was pirated more than sold. The PC community already game IW the finger, I guess they are returning the favor. You only have to read comments from here and other sites to see how the PC community responds. Instead of not purchasing the game, their solution is to pirate it. Anyone not intelligent enough to see that stealing the game is not the solution.

What stealing the game will do is strengthen the resolve of IW and other developers as they witness how the PC community reacts. If you want to show IW that you are pissed at their decision then millions of people stealing their game only shows them that you want their game. Not purchasing the game and not stealing the game would be huge and really send a message that PC gamers do not care for IW decision and you do not even deem stealing the game worth the effort.

So for the people who have it up their butt about IW decision, don't go the petty pirate route but actually send a real message by not buying or stealing the game and you can believe that will send a much stronger message then millions of people stealing the game letting Activision and IW know there is still a huge amount of people who want their game no matter what decisions they make.

I think people forget that BC2 has dedicated servers but you have to purchase that resource. Its not free and EA is not providing any way to setup your own private server. Yes EA gives you dedicated servers but they found a way to monetise it.

Personally, I do not see why IW will not go down this route. If PC gamers are willing to pay for dedicated servers then I see no reason why IW/Activision would not give them what they want since they can make money off of it.

It started on PC, but things DO change and I guess that it has a lot more mainstream success (at least since COD4) as a console game.

I still think it's pretty shady the way they're treading the pc users for this game.

Now, I'm going to do something I like to call the 'Compliment Sandwich" Where I say something good, talk about where you need improvement, and then end with something good.

Something good... something good... You look like Snoopy and it makes me smile... but you have smelly dog farts.

I'm actually quite shocked and dismayed that you would take such a stance against selling CoD:MW2. While I do understand D2D's reasons, they make very little sense to me.

As a consumer, I've mainly bought most of my games online through D2D, Steam, or Impulse over the last 3 years. Everyone always has great deals and little price wars beating the brick stores hands down. So sending me to an Amazon link to purchase the physical game (which still contains the Steam client) makes no sense to me since that still is still D2D's argument; including the Steam client. But they'll still point me towards their partner to buy the game, the physical game with the Steam client. Not only has D2D null and voided their argument for me there, but I also see them as a hypocrite of sorts.

Next, I've become someone who buys digital download games now. I haven't bought a physical game in 2 years. Don't point me in the direction of a physical purchase.

Next, as a consumer, I like price wars and competition. D2D completely dropped the ball on this one in my book (75% of the original CoD: MW with MW2 purchase on D2D). Wold have been nice.

And last but not least. I'd recheck your games catalog if I were you. If your complaint is about MW2's inclusion of the Steam client (and thusly the Steam store). I'd take a look at some of your other games that also include their own in store clients such as the Guild Wars games, World of Warcraft, and Eve Online. I'm pretty sure there are quite a few others. Again, I see you as hypocrites.
