Xbox 360 Platinum Hits lineup adds Halo Wars, Orange Box and others

Xbox.com has listed several new games as Platinum Hits, including Fable II (aka Game of the Year Edition), Halo Wars, Left 4 Dead, The Orange Box, Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts, Ninja Gaiden II, Kung-Fu Panda, Sonic's Ultimate Genesis Collection, Sonic The Hedgehog, and Sonic Unleashed.

A Microsoft PR agent couldn't confirm the full list of new Platinum Hits (are we missing any above?), but said that if a game is listed as such on Xbox.com, it's a Platinum Hits title. The changes seem to have taken effect on major retailer sites, as GameStop and Amazon now reflect the discounted Platinum prices (if not always the the Platinum Hits branding), which range from $20–30.

With Orange Box requiring only one Jackson ($20), it's now literally a crime to not own it. Conversely, if you're dead-set on committing a crime, buy someone Sonic The Hedgehog or Sonic Unleashed at $20 each.

Orange Box has been $20 for *months* now. They're only changing the box art.....

Those of you trumpeting Halo 3's price at $30 should hold out for ODST. I got a copy of it on Black Friday for $30. It'll drop much quicker, give you full Halo 3 multiplayer, plus Firefight & a short campaign. Its a way better value than Halo3 with no extra maps. If you didn't buy Halo3 already, you obviously don't care about the campaign story arc.

Or just be a tool and get Modern Warfare2. That game sucks.

If you're going to get The Orange Box, get it on the PC. I don't play it on the Xbox 360, but if I had to guess I'd say the community support for Team Fortress 2 (arguably the best game in the set) is better and there's more players. Your system can probably run it as long as you're not on an ancient computer and it's the same price. Just an idea.

i cant find mass effect anywhere. is it out of print?

If I recall correctly, Sonic 2006 has been on Platinum Hits for some time now and isn't a new addition.

There's some good deals and bad deals but at least there are some price drops (even though it's a damn shame Modern Warfare is still like 50 bucks). I know the sales are usually good for Nintendo games but where has the player's choice million sellers line gone for Nintendo? Are old Wii games still selling that much to not warrant price drops? Even Sony still has the greatest hits lineup for PS3!

Halo Wars... Might have to pick it up soon. Already Got Orange Box (so no crime commited there :-) and well thats it I guess.

Or perhaps when you said it's "literally" a crime, you meant it's "figuratively" a crime. Figuratively as in the exact opposite of literally.
