The Kinect price has remained elusive, even after Microsoft's E3 keynote, but a new GameStop listing predicts a MSRP of $150 for the product itself -- $299 when included with an Arcade console and $399 with an Elite console. Even Kinect Adventures! and Kinect Sports are priced on the retailer's site: $60 each. It's as if a million gamers cringed and were suddenly disinterested.
It's hardly confirmation of Microsoft's intended price point for the device, but the $150 price point (along with the proposed bundle packages) corroborates a rumor we reported on late last month. We've got troops on the ground at Microsoft's post-keynote session and will try to find out what we can. We'll keep you posted.
Update: Microsoft has told us at the Xbox 360 roundtable this afternoon that they don't plan to announce a Kinect price officially this week at E3.

putting things in prospective, playing a 2 play PS3 Move game would end up costing about the same. Move starter kit is suppose be $99 plus second Move controller probably another $50

@here2000 That seems like a weak justification, though. Considering folks can get an entire console for $150 (the Arcade 360, after it is discounted for the new one) it seems overkill for a camera add-on, even if it is fairly nifty. Still, this isn't officially the price point, so it's really all just speculation for now.

Yeah, I bet people will opt for a 360 + this instead of just getting a Wii.

If they could get it to the $60 range with a simple bundled game (like the Kinect Sports dealy) I'd be interested. It looks pretty nifty, but certainly not $150 nifty. And the games had better not be full $60.

$60 Bucks for Kinetic Adventure? A generic title like that should be bundled with the hardware!

You could get a Wii at the same price.

Nope no way. I will not spend 60 bucks on any of those games. Maybe the harmonix title. and no way will i spend 150 bucks on camera.

i think 60 bucks for adventures and sport is the real tragedy.
Give me kinect with both of those games for $150 and you've got a deal.

$150 can buy ANYTHING better than this including handhelds, digital cameras, smartphones, and yes other game consoles!!

thats ridiculous... 75 MAYBE id pick it up but 150 no way ,.. i was pretty disappointed with this years xbox keynote .. very lack luster - all the kinect games looked so terrible graphically - to me looked like if wii games got an HD upgrade and all edges got AA'd
the star wars game looked hideous - and hate on me if you will but gears 3 looked JUST like gears 2 , that looked like gears 1 .. the boss or mini boss battle in the demo looked EXACTLY like the boss battle in gears 2 where a giant looking swamp thing creature charges at you , you dodge , repeat - but this creature was just reskinned - with all those extra arms i was hoping to see some cool animations going on but the game is the same :(

They did this same shit with every console. They guess the price, have you commit to it and change it as necessary. Exciting.

If MS was trying to rope in the casual market with Kinect, having it at a 150 price point is the WRONG ideal. And from what they showed today, NONE of those games are worth dropping the 150 for the device and 60 for a game.

$150 for the Kinect is over priced, but $60 for those cheap and nasty games is a F'N insult

I expect that price to drop like a rock very quickly or two or more years of development time will be flushed down the proverbial drain. They'd likely make more money selling it at $50(an impulse buy for something like this) simply due to a huge increase in buyers.

It's $150 because they need to make back the millions they probably spent on their Cirque du Soleil publicity stunt.

I'm not going to get too enraged over an unconfirmed price point on the games, however Microsoft seems to be taking pages from Sony's marketing team, adding little parlor tricks to make it seem cheaper. If the games do turn out to be $60...oh boy, the backlash will be amusing.

150 dollars? No thanks, go buy a wii for that much money. This is the next Sega 32x.

wow 150?! Joystiq was right 'cuz i certainly made a cringing face at that lol but really though...Kinectic adventures for $60 dollars? So Halo Reach and Kinectic Adventures are on the same level is basically what they are saying(if this is true)...no...just no lol
But there will always be early adpoters and what not.

Does this mean that the arcade and the elite are getting discounts?
Just got red ringed last week, i don't care about slim, i want a quick n chea replacement.
Are the arcade and the elite gonna be discountinnued?
About Kinetic:
They're charging 150$ to catch some desperate people, by xmas time it'll be down to 99 or bundled with a slim console at 399$....unless they're evil.

So Microsoft never pulled out the price in their show? I cut out through the ESPN thing.
But those prices would be ruinous, for hardware and software alike.

it's funny that I was actually still cringing when i got to this line. That's good journalism.
I bet they'll do a 'special price drop' for the holidays once all the 'hardcore fanboys' have been milked.

R.I.P. Microsoft Kinect - June 1, 2009 to June 14, 2010
I'm going to enjoy watching this thing crash and burn. Maybe Microsoft will actually learn that they cant steal the Wii audience, and better yet realize that they aren't competing with and never will compete with the Wii. Focus on Sony, because in the last two years they've given you a royal ass whipping and you've sat by and watched.
