Quantic Dream puts indefinite hold on Heavy Rain DLC
66
Holding your breath for new Heavy Rain DLC? Well, stop. Game Informer has learned that the "Heavy Rain Chronicles" have been put on indefinite hold, with creator Quantic Dream saying they were urged by Sony to redirect their focus on an upcoming Move patch for the game. It's not been canceled completely, mind, but it's not looking good.
No one's chalking the holdup to low interest, but one would imagine that if the first chunk of DLC -- which was free to those who purchased the game new, but on sale to those who didn't -- was moving like thickly-accented hotcakes, we'd already be playing the second episode.

Heh, When Move was getting stories early on, i posted about itpossibly halting game development/add-ons because Sony would want them to develop for Move and in turn it would end up making people miss out on possible game developments or additions that would be really good. Well, I was kind of right! Granted, These Chronicles are cool, they aren't amazing, but what's to stop Sony from making another developer skip time just to add Move to what would possibly be an amazing game if they didn't have to or want to in the first place?

@kamikit
yeah this is just another thing to delay games. I'm guessing LBP, inFamous 2, KZ3, uncharted 3 and every other game will take longer now because they have to have people working on them in 3d and for Move.
either that or they'll just cut corners to fit that part of the development in. oh well the best we can do is just not buy in to these gimmicks

Honestly, I agree. That's all this is . It's all gimmicks, I wish these companies would focus on making good original games, or hell even good sequels instead of trying to get people to buy their shit because it's in 3-d or it has motion controls. It's getting ridiculous.

Move sucks why put stuff on hold for Move? Damn I wanted the rest of the DLC. By the time they put it out people will have traded the game in or moved on to something else and never go back to it. Another dumb move by Sony.

This stinks. Sounds like bait and switch. Grumble, grumble. I want more Heavy Rain. :(

They have to retool the DLC for move. I'm satisfied with this decision.

huh.
They’re pulling artists and modellers and writers away from DLC work to … erm, code Move into their UI? Something that would take a week tops…
No, I don’t register that as a valid argument.
When the first DLC was 0day on release I was suspicious, and with the further news that it is delayed for a bit of coding, I’m angry more than understanding.
If no DLC is coming, tell the customers damnit -- I would understand if they felt it would not sell enough to be a return on investment.
But messing me around just annoys me.
CLEAR MESSAGES PLEASE, QUANTIC DREAM.

We all know why. Heavy Rain 2. Bank on it.

Nope.. I like move, and I haven't beat Heavy Rain. Now that I know move is out, I don't want to see games come out that DON'T support it and end up feeling like I've bought a wii. If they're holding up development, then it's a sign to me that they're taking things seriously and not just looking at it as casual gamer shovelware.
These things are not gimmicks, they're progress. If you can't admit that, you're going to have a very frustrating couple of generations as they continue to push our envelope into virtual reality.

This news will be met by a frowny face in 3, 2, 1... =(
I don't know who played the Taxidermist in 8 minutes but I really, really enjoyed playing around in that creepy world for a good hour and a half. Quantic Dream didn't have to make that E3 Demo available to the general public they could have buried it. The fact that they released it as a bonus for pre-orders/special releases and priced it as completely optional cheap content for everyone else seems more like a nice gesture than a cash grab.
I expect that future DLC would have been (will be?) more polished and more in line with the finished game. If there were more episodes that were half as thrilling as the Taxidermist planned, I think we're really missing out.

Great. DLC content that can't come fast enough put on hold for gay ass motion controls that I could not care less about.
Thanks Wii!
