The Japanese dub with English menus and subs. It's just the thing when certain people find the US dub to be really grating to the ears such as me.
Plus I'm sort of a Maaya Sakamoto fan.

All the PS3 games are region-free so I don't think it will be an exception. Also, the subtitles are the exact same one used on the US version so it should be good.

No.. I refuse to buy this game. I had it for 3 days and was turned off by the incredibly weird voice acting.

Why does everyone hate this game? I bought it on release, and it was pretty damn good. It may not be worth $60 but at $20, it's definitely worth buying.

@SpaceFox Squenix hasn't learned how to balance their battle system. I got to the tentacle plant boss with Lightning and Hope and I was totally squashed, after managing to do moderately well up til that point.

@Faceless Troll That's more your fault for not learning the proper strategies the battle system wants you to employ. If you've been doing fine up until that point, the brick wall is due to not adapting to the strategy, not the game suddenly throwing an enemy too difficult for you to handle, forcing you to grind. For, it's actually possible to beat the game, entirely, without any grind at all.
Oh yeah, I enjoyed the game. I'd buy several copies at $60 and still be happy with the purchase.

@Fausk I'd been doing pretty well with changing my strategies. Up until that boss.

@Faceless Troll not SEs fault you suck at the game. That boss takes strategy and items. And it doesnt take a great mind to beat him or his much bigger brother.

I hadn't had a challenge in FF13 up until after I beat the game. Which is where it's purposely made more difficult.

Well, that's not a bad deal really. And the game is ok I guess.I know it's better than about maybe 60% of the other rpgs out there. Good price if you have been on the fence. I wish I would have waited to get it this cheap.
Game on!

I bought it for $30 and that all the game worth in my opinion(it was one of the most linear rpg i ever played and the combat system was just me switching menu with no serious strategy). At $20 this game is actually worth getting if your into final fantasy franchise.

I'd only buy the soundtrack--not the game.
That soundtrack brought tears to my eyes.

So what they're saying is that they have a whole bunch of stock stuck in their warehouses which they haven't been able to get rid of at retail price? That may be a telling sign.
Still at $19 that's probably a good enough deal to offset any issues the game has.

Nah, for that price you could get Resonance of Fate instead, the game has been around $20 the past few days.

I'm wishing I had, at launch. I still mean to go back and play more of FFXIII at some point, out of a desire to not hate it, but I think I would've enjoyed Resonance of Fate a lot more. It looked fun, but I had to make a choice =(

Well, according to the vgchartz North American sales records, FF XIII sold a combined 1,709,806 copies in its first 10 weeks (for both the 360 and PS3). Since then, they have sold only another 328,093 copies. This is since, like, June. I think it fizzled after the original hype.

So this game is not really worth it, eh? I was hankering for a JRPG a couple months ago, but just played FF12 instead. I had fun with that one, but of course HD graphics would have been a plus.

I loved it.
Minus Vanilles voice, I thought the game was terrific. But Vanille's running animation more than made up for her voice (plus she was pretty damn cute).

Just want to say I absolutely loved FF13. One of my favorite games of all time. That being said JRPGs are also my favorite genre.
Remember when they used to cool guys? Remember when everything wasn't choices and good or evil and RPGs were epic, tight stories?
I like WRPGs too(playing Fable 3 as we speak)...(seriously, it's on pause), but not at the cost of every RPG going in that direction.

I've played it for 30 hours and I kinda feel meh about it. But it sucks that I had to play over 20 hours to finally discover the real game. I got it for 30 bucks off Craigslist. I can totally understand how people that payed full price are pissed.

I think playing for two hours does count. If a game doesn't grab you by then, it's doing something wrong. If you persist past two hours in a game you really aren't enjoying, you either (a) have a prior-established reason for wanting to see it through - like being a fan of the franchise/genre - or (b) you are actually enjoying it.
I played for nine hours before not returning to it. This was shortly after powering my way through White Knight Chronicles which, while not a particularly pleasant experience, was functionally competent enough for me not to leave. Plus, after getting no trophies for...anything, I thought I'd get one for finishing the game, as a form of external validation for my time. Boy was I wrong.
I forced my way through that game because I /wanted/ to like it. I attempted the same thing with FFXIII, but it didn't work out very well.

Yeah... get rid of that stock, Amazon. Good luck to ya!
It's probably not so bad at $20. You probably won't hate on yourself too much at that price point. Thankfully I got it through Amazon trade in credit and not straight up cash.

To be sure, the game has moments of "AWESOME" and moments of "...ugh", but I'll be damned if I didn't love the soundtrack, grow to love the story overall, and really like the Paradigm System. That's just my opinion. Maybe the game's just not worth more than $40....but it's not not worth playing at all.
This sale is CRAZY, btw.
