@BtheCarp I loved the maps from Battlefield: Modern Combat also. I liked "Missile Crisis", "The Black Gold" and "Destruction" I hope we see similar maps to those in the new Bad Company series!

So very happy.

Now make the UAV's get destroyed when they are blown up with C4 and get the patch to consoles that halves weapons damage on the Mcoms, and I'll be even happier.

Thanks Dice.

@PR0F3TA Call of Duty is a different franchise with drastically different gameplay. There is common elements between the two, but many Battlefield fans will have a hard time enjoying COD's limited map sizes, and core gameplay among other things.

This news is so freakin' awesome, I cannot describe how happy I am, yes, sometimes multiplayer maps can make a man's day.

You tell 'em. Rehashed maps are free (for those that bought the game new) and not $15 (because it's an extra $10 for those that didn't).

@Ballistic H And these rehashed maps probably too a good amount of work to put into the game, rather than just dumping the files in.

This made my day, Oasis was my favorite BC1 map. I haven't been playing much BF lately (Kinect, Reach, Rock Band, Meat Boy, and the ever present SSF4 keep me busy). Vietnam was sure to get me back, but it looks like I will be back early...pending an actual release date.

Thanks DICE...now if we could only get Panama Canal in Rush mode...

Bout damn time they release a Map Pack that introduced new maps rather than just mode unlocks for existing ones. I've actually been thinking of diving back into BC 2 again, always had more fun with the game than I ever did with Modern Warfare. Was never into the whole lone wolf thing that team matches tend to dwelve into when playing Modern Warfare.

i just wish they wouldn't overcharge for rehashed, old maps. Sure if i had bought it new these would be free but it comes down to $20 for it used or $60 for it new.

$60 new? The ultimate edition of this game is constantly being put on sale for $40 and that comes with the VIP code, onslaught mode DLC and 1943.

Brilliant move DICE. Get all the hold-outs that are still playing Bad Company 1, update their favorite maps to Bad Company 2, finally either prompting them to buy Bad Co. 2 Disk, or keep that game disc in their console. Increasing their chances of buying additional DLC.

I see this method continuing: Release a major installment in a franchise ie. BC2, anchor next 2 years of downloadable content and mini games (Vietnam) to that game. In this scenario the next 1943 type game will require you to own BC2 or 3 in order to be able to buy it.

In conclusion of my analysis, I personally have allocated an annual budget to buy any and all DLC to feed my Battlefield addiction.

Thanks for reading.

I bought MoH hoping it was the MW2 killer, but alas it was horrible. To get my "War Kick", and to get that bad memory erased, I went out and bought BFBC2 Ultimate Edition. Yeah, I'm late to the game, but I've been lovin' it so far. Even the SP looked specular in HD, and played just as well. MP has been fantastic as well, though some issues I would liked changed (ie the before mentioned C4 on the UAV), but I really look forward to the additional maps and Vietnam update.

It really is a great game! I find myself switching back and forth from it and MW2.

BC2 has it's great moments, usually when people are working together. Yet more times than not lately I get stuck on an uncooperative team and the matches just end in non-stop spawn-killing

I'll be playing this next to, and as much as Black Ops. Maybe they decided to wait to release this until the next COD to keep people like myself playing it that much longer. Can't wait!

At first I scoffed at this announcement. I've been so into Halo and also with the impeding COD: Black Ops - when would I have time to get back into Bad Company 2. But on second thought... this does sound like a lot of cool content for free. It's ashame this announcement doesn't come with a date, if this came out this week, it might get lost in the Black Ops excitement, however I for one have to wait til Black Ops is shipped to me... so I would benefit from this DLC coming out this week!

Well, thats too bad. Traded in the game months ago. They should have realized that they should have made all the maps compatible with all modes in the first place, and not just unlocked the SAME maps for different modes. If they had actually given real new maps like this every few months instead of rehashing old ones, then I would probably still play the game sometime.
