Really looking forward to this game, and the reviews seem pretty solid. As for deathstreaks or the Nuke, I'm more than happy to see both of them gone.

in fact, i read in the giantbomb review that every match ends with a comically large nuke explosion. seems like a big "F-U!" to infinity ward, don't you think?

@Beatz I agree, rewarding people for dying is just asinine! The nuke killstreak was abused beyond making the game fun. Nothing better than being 50-20 only to have the game end on a 25-2 camper.

@Faenix - Looking at it in hindsight, the major failing of MW2 with regard to killstreaks was that they stacked. Anyone with the smallest amount of skill could go from predator missile (at 5 kills), to harrier (7 kills), and then to chopper gunner or AC130 (11 kills) in almost no time at all. I can't remember who it was, but someone described this as "the rich get richer, while the poorer get poorer" and that kind of perfectly describes it. Once you are down in MW2, you are pretty much out.

I hope that the changes they've made to Black Ops are enough to fix the issue (we'll see....if the UPS man ever gets here)

Same crap, different toilet. I hate Call of Duty - well just the online. Well not even the actual online mode - just the people who play it. All they do is camp, hide, and snipe -basically play like pus$ies. I'm not gonna waste $60 on a game that I'll play for maybe a week until I get frustrated by all the campers. If you;re a camper - than F*CK YOU!!!!! Thanks for making me waste $60 when MW2 came out. I wont make the same mistake twice.

@ManuelBLG Use a different route to get to said camper? Cold Blooded? Ninja? Silenced weapons?

I can't stand campers as much as the next guy, but if you're getting killed by the same one over and over... well... you're doing it wrong.

@ccc What does that even mean? Portal and Bioshock don't even have multiplayer, but they have skill? We must have different concepts of what skill means, because if you are "the best" then by definition you are better than the masses. If games were specifically made for "the best" then you wouldn't be the best, the best would become the masses.

@InfinitiProject

indeed...

i hate campers too, but don't really find them much of a problem in this game (yet)..

then again i'm that player that will rush up on you and dolphin dive into a hail of bullets with dual 1911s, run around the corner of an obvious ambush and start spraying my famas all over the place, jump out of windows while delivering a tomahawk to the head....

i'm always on the move, always checking my 6, and always tossing flashbangs/frags into rooms i'm not sure about.

if you are having problems with campers, become one, learn where the good spots are, what works... then turn around and start tossing frags into those spots, or smoke, or whatever, you'd be surprised how many people you'll get.. will people hate ya for nade spam? yeah, maybe... but who cares.

Hmm, been playing this for a few hours and so far it's disappointing. My benchmark game is KIllzone2, and neither this (or MW2) come even close to living up to that.

Sorry, multiplatform gaming is dead. I'm sticking to PS3 exclusives from now on methinks.

@hxczuner And what is it exactly what CoD has?

I mean when Reach came out and I hated it, I could point exactly to what it didn't have. Trueskill ranking, dual weapons, maps and terrible equipment. Basically trying to imitate CoD too much.

But what is it that CoD has over other shooters of the same type? They all have classes/loadouts nowadays, all with mostly identical weapon sets. It surely can't be balance because MW2 has been criticised since forever about unbalanced KS rewards, certain weapons, and matchmaking fresh 20s with 10th prestiges (why I loved H3 ranking and hated HReach).

So what does it "have"? A general feel of the game? Well that's in the eye of the beholder, and even differs within the franchise between IW and Trey's games (leaping prone is a nice touch in Black Ops, though annoying sometimes ^^).

I'll tell you what it "has". Numbers. Good job for getting them, but now it has them? It just needs to keep releasing them, there's no catch up for other games, even if they go above and beyond with vehicles and wider weapon selection etc etc. They release on all platforms, and they've got the numbers.

I don't like buying the next iteration of a franchise every year. I still play CSS, and TF2, who reward their consumers with free content and patches. I didn't want to buy Left 4 Dead 2, and I wanted to wait for MW3, after all it feels like I've only just bought new map packs for MW2 a couple of months ago (wait, I did) and barely have use out of them. But I have Black Ops, why? Because nobody I know is playing MW2 now, and it's only been out a day.

I'm forced to move on, they're telling me I have to buy the next one whether I'm finished with the last one or not, else I stand alone.

Is split screen multiplayer as limited as people are saying?

I heard they've scrapped all of the good parts of everything, and just made a 'dive right in at max everything' game?!

I got this a few hours ago, and I gotta say, this has improved over Modern Warfare 2 in a lot of ways (as it should). The multiplayer is balanced, customizable, the guns feel good, the wager matches are incredibly fun, zombies is always fun, and the maps are pretty varied. I haven't put too much time into the campaign yet.

Some valid points except the balance. Of course the game seems balanced when everyone is on the same level. In a month is when you have the people that continually play vs the ones that play here and there. That is where the issues are. You never saw a nuke at the start of MW2, but now they are more common due to people having their weapons and knowing the maps down to the last blade of grass.

I plan on purchasing this later (Hopefully a Black Friday deal can save my wallet), but I hope it is still "balanced" at that point.

True, but from what I have noticed there isn't any super overpowered weapons like the shotguns were in MW2, and the perks all seem relatively balanced. And since you don't unlock perks and attachments by ranking up I think that point is more valid than it would be with previous Call of Duty games.

I just hate when games with great multiplayer like this puts up single-player only trophies/achievements, just to please the whores out there.

I'd be very happy to be rewarded with a trophy for spending hours playing this online :(

Ummm, I have the exact opposite opinion. As much as I love the multiplayer aspect of most games, and although I spend a ton of time in multiplayer vs campaigns, I do not like multiplayer/online achievements because it encourages boosting.

There are no achievements for riot shields and yet people boost it in MW2. Imagine if there were achievements. Each game would be a nightmare.

Yeah, I never understood people saying MW2 is unbalanced. They are either bad/mediocre at it or just don't happen to be using the right equipment/perks, so they get all upset.

If you don't like the harriers or attack choppers, then use cold-blooded and a stinger. I've had people claim I had an aimbot because I turned and shot them so quickly. I used my ears, people. I can hear you running around the corner. If you don't want to give me the upper hand, then use Ninja Pro when you play Search and Destroy. I love noobs. Helps my W/L ratio and KDR. Lol.

I've played through the campaign, IMO it's a giant wasted opportunity.

Without spoiling anything specific:

the ops are not "black" at all, was hoping for some deniable operations mixed with conspiracy history, instead there are even more large scale front battles than MW/MW2? And despite what the trailers may say, the protagonist exists, and his existence is so firm might as well say "Manson, Alex Mason". The antagonists are simply forgettable. Also the premise of the entire plot is simply stupid, even more than MW2.

Graphically it starts low, quite low, but get progressively better until reaching MW2 single player graphic quality in later levels. Strange, why?

Oh, and epilepsy inducing flashing flashbacks are out of style, didn't you get the memo Treyarch?

well let's see after the countless amounts of hacks in MW2, no doubt it won't be changing for Black Ops. The multiplayer threw me off from COD, too many hacks and it's just not fun anymore. Now seeing that there is no more infinity ward and I really don't like Treyarch. Yeah I ain't touching this one. Off to BC2 for me. COD is done in my book. No Infinity Ward, COD is dead but of course people are gonna stick with COD series like flies to shit. Nuff said.

I like it. It feels like you have some 'weight' while moving around unlike the slipperiness of MW2.. both are great games.
The cherry on top for me though is the 3D capability, it actually kicks ass.
