With all the talk of violent video games last week, we got to thinking about one of the most vilified gaming franchises: Postal. It's been a good 17 months since we've had an update on the latest in the series, Postal 3, so we assumed ... perhaps even hoped a little, that it was dead. "Not so!" says Running With Scissors' Vince Desi.
He told us, "It's in the final stages in Moscow, I don't think it will come out this Christmas." It's a disappointment for anyone planning on giving the gift of a badger on a harness this holiday season, but have faith: Desi says he's hoping to set the badger loose in the first quarter of next year, much to the chagrin of ... well, probably everybody.

I can't imagine anyone playing this out of anything beyond morbid curiosity when everything about it (from the mechanics to the graphics to the mindset of "lol violence lol") seems so outdated

Postal: The only franchise I don't mind being banned.

Postal is such a trash franchise, an excuse to be an over-exaggeration of violence. And it's definitely just ammo against games and gamers for things just like the California case. It's all just poor taste incarnated.

Not sure whether to buy this game or not. I really enjoyed Postal 2 (it's a guilty pleasure), but I think my copies of Okami and Shadow of the Colossus would rebel if they were even placed on the same shelf as such a lowbrow game.

@Hank Hill
It's going through STEAM only. Postal is banned from store shelves in US.

I sware they said this was looking at a 2013 release...and I am not one to complain about graphics, but I seriously expected it to look better than in it's pre-alpha beta stages....On a side note though not as strong isn't "Duke Nukem" a bunch of low brow sex jokes, yet everybody loves it and hates Postal, stop the hate people please.

Nope, hate Duke Nukem as well!
Not saying either game necessarily shouldn't exist, but definitely I'm not interested in them - actually that's not true, I won't be BUYING them, but I am sort of casually interested in both games: Duke Nukem for its train-wreck history and Postal for its sheer 'wtf why would anyone' value. Hence reading this thread.
I agree that anyone who likes Duke Nukem despite its obvious trashy nature (in terms of theme, not saying it will necessarily be a bad game) shouldn't get to feel too smug about disliking this game and its obvious trashy nature. Unless they're comparing the graphics. Then they get to feel smug.

I appreciate anything that comes out and says..oh these are the rules eh? WELL SCREW YOU RULES! and Breaks the acceptable boundaries. like Eminem for example, but once you start doing it just to do it it looses the punch and art it had going for it.
Keep taking what society deems "acceptable" and keep stepping on that. break down the barriers break down the stereotypes and stigmas. bush every boundary until it breaks and they have to create a new one..then knock that one over while its being built. Stand up and use a voice or a tool to say I am what I am and i exist...and so does this.

@MonKENy Breaking down what society deems acceptable isn't saying what you are, it's saying what you're not. Breaking things is easy. Many people do it out of rage or fear or good old-fashioned spite. The more difficult part - namely, the important part - is building or creating, because only that tells people who you are, not what you aren't.

but thats exactly what im saying, However you cannot build new structures without first removing the old.
When developers create things that push or break the bounds we place on them its a great thing.
Breaking is not always to how what you are not. In many ways it shows what we are..Who we are. "This is what I am. It doesnt fall into the class you set".
Just because one walks about does not mean they are unbound. Before you can become a free man you must break the bounds holding your mind and soul.

Saw this at Tucson Comic-Con this weekend. Looked pretty good to me, relative to what I expected from the franchise.
The most interesting thing I heard was that most of the development is happening in Moscow, and that the delays have been due to the publisher and team there (according to RWS).
Sounds like the RWS team is working on a platformer as their next game. Shock. The producer present mentioned the Weapon of Choice and Explosionade games as comparable to what they have in mind.

How many of these people complaining about postal being too violent aren't planning killing thousands of people in the new Call of Duty? A shooters a shooter, sorry if someones gonna make one thats a social commentary instead of a glorification of war. Postal is a dirty joke, Call of Duty is a recruitment tool.

yeah...what are they thinking, releasing a game that looks and plays exactly like postal 3...i guess they will also release it on the same day as postal 3
but seriously: this thing is still in development?

The people who make this series should be in psych wards. Why anyone would find such a heinous game entertaining is beyond me.
And from the youtube vids someone posted, it looks like the game controls like butt. Its kinda like playing Fallout 3 in third person mode and with one of your analog sticks broken.
