@koehler83 If you have wireless in your house, and your Wii is turned on, it is connected to the internet.

Last time I checked Monster Hunter Tri is still filled with people every night, Brawl fights are still scheduled constantly, Mario Kart Wii will never die online, Dr. Mario Online still has faithfuls, and Goldeneye has players during 3am.

Yes, it will be good for those 7 people.

Yeah, you have to be pretty closed-minded to not even consider playing Mario, Metroid or Zelda (let alone the other 15 or so less heard of, brilliant titles like No More Heroes).

Gosh, posting an article about the Wii on Joystiq is like posting an article about Aion on Massively. Although the Aion hate has calmed done some.

This game will come out in North America. Don't even worry about it. It's liable to make far larger of an impact in North America than Monster Hunter Tri did, and even that didn't do too shabby (something like 500,000 copies sold here I think). If Nintendo puts the same marketing push behind this game, which if I'm not mistaken they're actually helping to co-develop, and pimps the hell out of the fact that this is Sakaguchi's first directorial role since Final Fantasy V, they could have a reasonable hit on their hands.

Also, y'know, it looks FANTASTIC, so it has that going for it.

I hope you're right - both that the game will come over here and that it will be successful. It does indeed look amazing. And yeah, if Nintendo is smart, they will plaster "FROM THE CREATOR OF FINAL FANTASY" over every single ad.

I really, sincerely hope that Xenoblade makes it over too. It inevitably won't be as big, being made for a more niche audience with a less extravagant budget by a less widely-known developer, but if they sell it as a small-scale title as opposed to a AAA blockbuster I think it could be successful. I know I'd snatch it up in a heartbeat, at the very least.

Illogical. Consider the Wii "demographics", as they say: casuals. Then consider that JRPG is a genre geared towards the hardcore gamer and that it's not nearly as popular as it was back in the PS One and 2 days, even more when it comes to new JRPG IPs. Sakaguchi failed on the 360, which has a much larger "core gamer" base, it doesn't make sense the very thought that this game could thrive on the Wii exactly because of its owners. More owners doesn't mean more sales. They must be inclined to buy the game to begin with and believe me when I say that most people that buy this game also own a 360 or a PS3 and a lot of people who are gonna be willing to buy it but they won't, simply because they don't own a Wii.

Thankfully, that's not my case.

Your casual arguement is rendered useless by the release of the Move and the Kinect.

Therefore all consoles are casual.
Lets go play Vindictus!

Calm down, I'm not trying to bash the Wii or anything. Not a big fan of it, but I even own one. All I'm saying is that a very large portion of Wii owners are casuals (no offence intended) and won't take interest on a JRPG

Moreover, I didn't say once that the Wii is a "casual console". I said that a lot (maybe most) of its owners are casual gamers. Try not to read too much into things.

Nice to be downvoted just for saying the truth. Thanks Nintendo fanboys. Furthermore, I made amends for my mistake in a later post. Nice to see that everyone just reads what them want to read off a post and then jump to early conclusions... Oh well, what am I complaining about? It's the internets laws, isn't it?

What is the point of great graphics if one never appreciates it?

Perhaps we're using graphics too much nowadays for the 360 and PS3 games... maybe high-end graphics should stay in meant-to-be-awe-inspiringly-beautiful games, while heavy camera effects should stick to the other games (which is something people do notice on the 360 and PS3... camera shakes, explosive effects, THAT'S what makes a warzone feel like a warzone).

This is like... our... 4th one?

I own all three consoles, and my Wii is seriously hurting for some RPGs (that aren't ports).

"No plans have been announced" =/= "no plans exist" =/= "no"

Mistwalker says that they will have news regarding whether the game will be localized by the end of the year. Keep in mind, also, that Sakaguchi was basically the man who discovered that JRPGs were marketable in the West.
