Treyarch working aggressively to squash Black Ops cheaters
55
Treyarch's David Vonderhaar has considerable emotional investment in Call of Duty: Black Ops, having served as Multiplayer Design Director. That helps explain his fiery comments regarding complaints that players had already hacked the game's online multiplayer component. On the official Black Ops forums, Vonderhaar explained that most of the videos circling the YouTubes feature older dev versions of the game, or use exploits that can be easily hotfixed or patched "just like we said we would."
Vonderhaar expressed disappointment in these complaints, saying, "What many of these people want is to be Internet nerd famous. I'm not going to make them famous and you shouldn't either." He later added, "We are disinterested in making mini-celebrities out of douche-bags."
Wow, we're actually kind of inspired by his passion, here. If everyone adopted the "no fame for douche-bags" credo, just think how much of a better place we'd be living in! There'd be no reality television at all.

If there was no more reality television, we would only have 2 channels and one of them would be the weather. The other would be that old indian head static screen that was used back in the day people actually went to sleep instead of watching TV at 2am.

If we didn't have reality shows, maybe, just maybe stations would go back to showing what they were meant to.
Animal Planet would show more animal shows, less reality shows.(Involving animals, like animal cops, does not count.)
ABC, CBS, NBC could actually show good programming. instead of relying on reality shows.
SciFI would have less reality shows, but still continue to suck.
And we could end the rash of "I completely suck, and make everyone around me miserable, but I'm a reality TV show star, and that makes me important".
MTV might actuallty show music again. Wait, they stopped showing music before reality shows were even a hit.

@The Tim The best is when the downvoted commented gets all incredulous and self-righteous about it. And the replies to their own comment with somethng like "What's wrong, Joystiq? Can't handle the TRUTH???"

I haven't seen any cheaters on 360. Not saying there are none (cause we all know they're), but I've had fun playing MP.

A good cheater doesn't get caught. I am not speaking from experience but if I were to cheat I would do it in a way that it wasn't obvious so people would just think I was that good.

It's not their fault that there are cheaters in the gaming universe. & A beta would only help so much. I saw some cheaters in Halo Reach a few days after launch despite there being a beta. It's the cheaters fault that there are cheaters... if that makes sense

not that i doubt it... but im not 100% sure how one cheats on a console, i know with PC its easier to make bots and windowed hacks for various stuffs (based on my experience with FFXI) but im still trying to figure out how, besides exploiting glitches and bugs, someone cheats... unless exploiting is the cheat? (walking behind walls shooting people who cant shoot you back.?) or is it possible to get actual cheat programs and things like that working on a console?

One of my primary complaints for MW2 was all the cheating. I doubt they'll be able to stop a good portion of them still.

I'm so glad to hear the anti-cheating stance. One of my biggest complaints about Modern Warefare 2 is all the cheating that occurs on the Xbox 360 version on multiplayer. It happened from day 1 and it's only gotten worse. The last weekend, I played against people who had super speed and were practically invincible. Also, I hate when someone sends unlimited rockets to a capture point. And the top 1000 or so players on the leaderboards? Most are obviously cheaters. There's no way you can have that high of score and only have a few minutes or less than a hour of total play time. Why Infinity Ward refuses to fix that alone, I'll never know.

Atleast he's straightforward and not sugarcoating it like a certain other FPS game company who released a large fictional warfare game a year ago, then screwed their players by not supporting or fixing anything requested or needed.
