The last we'd heard of Zombies!!! for Xbox 360, an Xbox Live Arcade adaptation of the killer board game, it was seeking a new developer after the prior one lost its head. Turns out the Xbox Live Arcade version is still alive and will be handled by Babaroga, the same developer that just brought the game to Windows Phone 7.
According to Twilight Creations, creators of the tile-based strategy board game, the XBLA version should be out sometime in the first quarter of 2011. Three years after it was first announced, it would seem the game is finally headed for a console release. Considering it's a game about classic zombies, we understand that development can shuffle along slowly.
[Thanks, Andrew O.]

SCORE! I played this game (the board game, not the XBLA version) at PAX East for the first time and my friends and I loved it. This will be an extremely tempting day one purchase for me.

Wow, never thought I'd hear of this game again. Awesome.
I bought this for a mate a few years back, and played it twice. We had fun, but it turns out the rest of my friends hate tabletop games, so never played it again.

Sweet! Though a September / October release date seems it would make more sense. I'm a fan of seasonal releases, ala Costume Quest.

Definitely looking forward to this...never had a chance to play the game but definitely want to. Hopefully it has online multi (come to think of it local multi makes no sense) instead of just versus AI

When I first got into board games 2-3 years ago, I was all over this game. Then I realised how completely devoid of strategy it was.
All "special action" cards can be used at any time, and the goal of the game is to reach the helicopter square before the other players. So it all boils down to waiting for the other players to get close to it, and throw some crappy card their way to move them in the wrong direction, or respawn at the starting square, or spawn a million zombies around them.
It's fun for a couple of games, but there's no depth, no strategy, too much luck involved when fighting zombies (think Risk)...
With the amount of good board games on XBLA, I wouldn't bother with this one.
My two cents!

I can agree with your take on the board game, although in a way I think XBLA is a perfect place for it. Not saying that they shouldn't have deep games on it, but I think I'd enjoy it far more in video game format.
Now, when is Pandemic going digital?

man i absolutely love the board game, i don't have any of the expansions (there are a ton) but i have had so much fun with just the basic starter version, looking forward to how this one will turn out!

I only played the starter pack until this summer when I played with a couple expansions. They are super fun and should be offered as DLC. It's funny that the only reason I played it as a board game was because I heard about this three years ago and I was intrigued.

I bought the game and a starter pack or two didn't actually get a chance to play it. My friends who played board games with me went out of town for school. Then, by the time I found new people to try it with I had lost the starter game (but have some cards and a giant bag of zombies...)
I will give this one a try!

I wonder if this version takes just as long to play.

Now all we need are XBLA versions of FFG's big box games like Twilight Imperium and Descent.
