This is why Nintendo makes butt loads of cash. Its cute, inoffensive and has attractive to a wide audience.

Why don't more developers do this?

@AnteSim

Well, just the same with books, movies, and TV shows. Some are aimed at children, some are aimed at adults, and some are aimed at everyone.

Because Nintendo is one of the few companies who are actually REWARDED for doing this. Most other companies sit there and think, "What the f" while Little King Story, Zack & Wiki, and A Boy and His Blob languish on store shelves.

Wait, since when was it a bad thing to unlock multiplayer content by having to play the single player game? Have we really gotten to the point where instant gratification, social networking, and online connectivity have taken precedent over the satisfaction of completing a game and unlocking content to determine progress?

I agree that most people nowadays are like "I WANT IT NOW I HATE WAITING AND WORKING FOR THINGS", but a multiplayer component seems like an odd thing to have as locked content. Maybe extra puzzles, or alternate graphics or music... but an entire mode? Seems a bit off.

Is it worth buying if you already have March of the Minis?

I played the original Minis game and was thoroughly underwhelmed. I can see why people would like it, but I had no enjoyment while playing it...

Power to anyone who does enjoy it though.

@megapixel Seeing as how most DS players don't have a DSi, myself included, I couldn't be happier this was a retail release. I was sad I had to miss out on the last Mario vs. DK as I love the series, but I'm waiting for 3DS before I start downloading DSiware.

The style is dead-on. Wouldn't expect nothing less from Nintendo.

Is this game just going to be more of the same from previous Mario vs kong series games?

For the love of God, Nintendo why won't you release those wind up Marios as an actual retail toy? I saw a March of the Minis pajamas but the windup dolls are like a no brainer!!

I've never played any Mario vs Donkey Kong games, I may just try it now.

I love March of the Minis, one of my favorite DS games ever. I don't have DSi so I haven't played the last one, but I still don't know if this is worth buying considering I still own March of the Minis.

This game looks interesting but I miss the original Mario vs Donkey Kong. I liked how one could use Mario itself. Oh well... :P

I do believe this is too samey to MvDK the second to warrant my quarters (even if a mere 120 of them are required).

Pass. I will come back when something legitimately new is done besides what I consider "content packs" or, effectively the $10 DLC equivalent to a $60 console game.

Mayhap timed-scroll/self-scrolling levels? (Think SMB).

To cap it off, wtf is with the "Nintendo hosted service" only option? That's not leveraging all of the longetivity it could have up onto the workbench. How about just giving us email options, or -- get this, no service of any sort required -- letting us save the files to an SD card on a DSi (it should have been a consideration if they intentionally designed it to encourage upgrading) so we can trade them freely of the shackles of your service (yes I don't agree with forcing proprietary solutions on us consumers -- especially in "this economy"). I understand that people are apt to reverse-engineer the files much more easily that way, but it saves server costs and fanbase revolt over server shutdown.

/endrant -- I hope you're happy. This review has offically gotten me hot and bothered about something I've not touched (nor intend to). That is the point of every review comments section, or so I'm told.

"MvDK the second" ie. MvDK March of something I didn't bother looking up the subtitle to.
