Portal 2 delayed until April 20, 2011 [update]

Delayed disorientation dissertation news now, with Valve announcing a new Portal 2 release date. Dubbed "the shortest delay in Valve history," the schedule shift sees the story-driven spatial puzzler launching on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, PC and Mac on "the week of April 18th, 2011." Update: April 20th in North America, and April 22 in Europe, to be precise.

Portal 2 was initially planned for holiday 2010, and then delayed until February 9th, 2011. Just think of it as a compassionate gesture -- rather than dropping a horrific, six-month delay on you all at once, it's being delivered episodically. Stay tuned!

VALVE ANNOUNCES SHORTEST DELAY IN VALVE HISTORY

Valve today announced that Portal 2 -- the sequel to the ground-breaking title that won over 30 game of the year awards, despite missing its original ship date -- will now be available the week of April 18th, 2011. This two month slip not only marks the shortest delay in Valve's proud tradition of delays, it represents the approaching convergence of Valve Time and Real Time. Though this convergence spells doom for humanity, it will not affect the new Portal 2 release date.

Except for Marvel vs. Capcom 3, Bulletstorm, Duke Nukem Forever, LittleBigPlanet 2...

@Mach2 Wii's got a ton (relatively speaking) of AAA games this fall and winter. Kirby, Goldeneye, Metroid, Donkey Kong, Epic Mickey, and if you can tolerate the flaws, apparently even the new Sonic game's reasonably decent.

I haven't bought/pre-ordered so many games at full retail price in such a short span of time for ages.

Valve always has a sense of humor.

People started likening the Scout to the ShamWoW guy. People started to make TF2 Scout jokes about him. In the Scout update, Valve put in lines directly referencing the ShamWoW guy.

When they accidentally leaked out the Meet the Spy trailer (thinking "private" on YouTube only meant certain people could see it) they edited the video for the final release, and added "Leaked Video" to the security board, and "gave" themselves an Achievement in the Achievement list. "Welcome to the Internet - Learn How YouTube Works."

When someone edited an Achievement map, and added in a cat of doom to kill all the Achievement farmers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM1Ay85de3U) they liked it so much, they awarded the creator a special community item.

They encourage the male/female Pyro thing by sticking random replacements into their web pages. One time it might say "him", the next time it loads it might say "her".

Valve may be always late, and they may take their time on Episode 3, but no one can say they don't have a sense of humor.

A Valve game without a delay wouldn't be a Valve game.

I think that was when Bunk was giving Jimmy hell about the fake serial killer in the final season. The Wire and Lost are undoubtedly the two most epic series in television history. Supposedly the two guys that did the Wire had a new show on HBO (starring Bunk) about a musician in New Orleans. I never caught it though.

I'll be having fun blasting my grandpa on Killzone 3, so no biggie :)
