Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Vietnam can finally toss away that pesky "Winter 2010" release window to celebrate an official December 21, 2010, launch date. The expansion will also be available a little earlier on PC "exclusively" through the EA Store and Steam on December 18. Not only that, but DICE has rolled out a double dose of good news, noting the free VIP Map Pack 7 will hit on December 1.
VIP Map Pack 7 will include four new(ish) maps, while Vietnam will be a $15 multiplayer expansion with four more maps, along with new weapons and vehicles. Check out the latest trailer after the break.

I still think that BFBC2 is the best modern day FPS on consoles, but I almost feel this is too little too late. I still might get this as I feel Black Ops is the same old same old, but considering it took them this long to actually get NEW maps and not just variants for different modes make me think its too late to matter. Hopefully its worth it.

@sammo21 Too late for what? Tons of people play this game every night. Me hinks Battlefield isn't competing head to head with black ops.
My favorite fps this gen and I love the dlc a year + from release.

Too late for what? Too late for new maps to finally be released. It took 9 months to get something besides modifications of maps that weren't already in the game from launch and should've been included out of the box to begin with, rather than touted as some super-special bonus for people who bought the game. It was and still is a complete joke what EA did with the VIP pass.

@sammo21 I agree about BC2 being the best modern-day FPS, at least in terms of multiplayer. But I don't think it's too late. I think it's actually pretty good timing. They let everybody get their Reach and Blops fixes, and now as peoples' interest in those are waning, they're giving them a reason to come back to BC2.

@superklye about what EA did with the vip pass...
I am inclined to disagree. Yes, getting maps that have only been re-purposed, and are not technically new maps is frustrating, however, I have played bf consistently since it came out in, what, march(?) and being on map pack 7 without ever having to pay for it is pretty freakin' sweet.
So right now I could go spend ten bucks on a few new maps for halo, or spend nothing on a few new maps for the game I am always happy to revisit.

@superklye No a complete joke would have been charging for maps. As it is, I love it. With maps as big as bfbc2 it takes me a long time to get bored with what we have.

@superklye I am sure EA is worried about your game experience buying the game used and shortchanging them.

The fact is: they doled out the maps that shipped with the game in small chunk, claiming they were new map packs, when it was the same maps we already paid for. We didn't get anything for free. It just took them 5 months to give us the entire game we paid for to begin with. And people who bought it used had to pay extra for the game they already bought.
How is it that hard to see this? And why are people defending it? It was lazy and shitty of EA to do. There's no getting around that.

Agreed. I was hoping to have some time with the Reach map pack; I'm still trying to get to Lt. Colonel rank for the last cheevo, but I'm still about 100k credits away. I've been rocking the daily challenges, but I'm not going to be able to resist playing Oasis and Harvest Day.

@BrianZeluz It's not their fault that you got rid of the game. They're supporting their customers that have kept the game and are still playing. There's no reason that Vietnam should be a standalone game. It's much better served as an add-on for their current game.

@Mcmax3000 funnily enough I think it is their fault, I unocked everything and had nothing new to keep me coming back. It's been out for 9 months and now they decide to make multiplayer dlc thats ACTUALLY new? Thats ridiculous of course people will have gotten rid of it by then. Doesnt it make sense economically to release this as both an add-on and standalone? Do they not want more money?

Serves you right for dumping the disc, ony to have to buy it again..
But this is the new model imo, paid DLC tied to game discs. Vietnam has nothing to do with the Bad Co story or era. EA wants you to buy the game again.

I man I loved this game to death, but it has taken way too long to get new maps. Basically since Halo Reach came out I have not touched this game and now with black ops out its hard to go back.
I am looking forward to battlefield 3, but they better work on a more steady pace of releasing new maps and also fixing the problems a lot more quickly (don't know if anyone remembers the two months of rubberband lag back in the late spring in BFBC2). They finally fixed it, but that whole experience was the worst I have seen from a development company. But even with that I still rushed out to buy Medal of Honor since DICE did the mutliplayer - man that really sucked. So needless to say I am not jumping up and down about dropping $15 on the map pack (especially after onslaught was such a waste of money).

It may be the awesome video. The 9 month wait. The constant begging and pleaing for new maps on the forums which has turned my brain to mush and made me forget the horrible, infact down right rude absense of any additional content for this beautiful game.
But im going to say it..... It was worth the wait.
