Two Worlds 2 coming to America Jan. 25, has sold a million in Europe
35
TopWare and SouthPeak's double-delayed RPG, Two Worlds 2, has finally received a North American release date of January 25, 2011. Later that week, the game will arrive in the U.K. and Ireland, where Topware will take over as sole distributor, allowing SouthPeak to focus on promoting the game in North America. That sounds like a decent strategy, but we're not sure the extra attention is necessary -- it's always been our experience that games with perfectly symmetrical titles practically sell themselves.
Two Worlds 2 has already been received with moderate success in Continental Europe, with the Xbox 360 and PC versions selling over one million copies combined since their releases in early November. (The PS3 version, remember, was held up due to a Blu-ray printing delay.) There's no telling how well the game will be received in new regions next month, but if its critical reception remains positive, we're guessing it'll do a great deal better than its predecessor.

Hmm. Its not the best RPG ever but it is a decent one. My main problem with it is that 80% of the biggest island is reserved for multiplayer. You can see it but you cant enter it. Still i wouldnt buy it on consoles if i were you.
There is meant to be a Gold Patch coming for free as a Christmas present. The devs said itll add 50% more content and a lot of people think it will unlock that island for single player. Problem is, the devs said they cannot make the patch for consoles as its too big. Its why the Publishers have sold them....twice!

I should clarify. The publisher sold the devs to South Peak after Tw2 was developed. A few days ago Southpeak just announced they have sold BACK the devs to the original publisher. The publisher then announced they are looking for a buyer for the devs. So its kinda like a game of hot potato...except no one wants the potato
Its kinda sad as Tw2 is a damn good RPG. Well...not DAMN good, but it is very very good.

Also the PS3 hold back, as it turns out, WASNT because of bluray pritning delay. The developers posted on the forums about it, apologising to Sony for "flying off the handle" and clarifying it had nothing to do with the prints. Although they didnt say what the real reason was.
On a seperate note OMG!!! triple post! Joystiq needs a goddamn edit button!

I would call a million Europe a rounding success not moderate at all. That's on track to likely sell two million globally and maybe more. For a game almost univserally panned by critics and fans alike that's about as big a sea change as you will ever see.

The first wasnt panned at all and this one is hailed as one of the greates ARPGs of the last few years! As i recall the first got mostly 7 and 8/10s. This one has gotten 8 to 9/10s. If thats panning then i dont wanna know what your definition of a perfect game is

No 8s whatsoever. It was a pretty horrible game. I don't know what Two World's your talking about but the one everyone else saw was really bad.

Im talking about the PC two worlds which was a lot better than the horrible console port. In my opinion all ARPGs are better on PC. Risen, Two Worlds 1 and 2, Divinity 2, Fable 1 and more. ALl of those are a hundred times better on PC than a console

@Billlop It was universally panned and considered by many, myself included, as one of the most laughable RPGs in years. It is commonly brought up by gamers as a source of comic relief.
On the other hand, I know it has it's fans. That's cool with me I have no beef with the game.
A million sold in Europe is still huge.

How is this game compared to say, Demon's Souls? Looks a bit similar in the pictures I've seen.

@Billlop So it doesn't have the same focus on combat moves and atmosphere? Still I'm quite interested based on those screen shots alone.

Its pretty much a "generic" Arpg. Theres nothing unique about it. It just does what it does very, very well. Its more about grinding and outleveling opponants than skill.
The combat system is awesome but its also sad. Its awesome because you can parry, dodge, counter and pull off some awesome moves. Its sad because you dont need to. You can win 90% of the fights by mashing left click. maybe throwing in a dodge every once in a while. It could have been much more. I have a review i did of it that i can email you if your interested in it. I'd post it here but it is rather big

I just finished the game as a Necro/Summoner. I won't say any more than that, since I was one of the people who worked on the game... other than: I had fun :P

Yeah, all 3 are supposed to be idtentical. I did notice some stuttering on the PS3 when i tried it though. Also, ive never played TW2 as a magic type. I dunno why, the magic system is really cool. I'll explain to people
You are supposed to build your own spells. You can use cards to customise. As an example, at the start you are given a Fireball spell. It consists of 2 cards. Fire and the Missile Delivery card. Swap out the Fire card with Frost, for example, and you have your own Frost Bolt. Swap out the Missile Delivery with...a Radial Wave card and you have an AoE fireblast. The possibilities are really cool.
You can glitch it though. I cant remember how its done, but if you choose Fire and a certain Missile Delivery, he fires like 500 mini fire bolts at once using no extra mana. One shot kills everything.

The only difference is the PC version can handle textures with higher resolutions. But PC, XBOX, and PS3 versions were all developed simultaneously and are otherwise identical.

I'll have to get it. I had high hopes for the first one, and that was a big disappointment. Since no new Elder Scrolls game is out yet, I'll giver 'er a go.

Wow, how stupid. Don't release your game this month when there is absolutely no new releases. Wait until the end of Jan when it gets super crowded with competition. Real smart there!
It may be a good game, but the competition is going to crush it in sales.

Gothic IV isnt Gothic. Its annoying they named it that. Ill explain.
Piranha bytes created the Gothic serioes. After Gothic 3, Piranha bytes was fired from Jowood Productions. However, Jowood still owned the Gothic franchise. SO they set another developer on Gothic 4. The problem was Piranha bytes had already started work on Gothic 4! They decided to continue it and rename it "Risen". So thats what Risen is. It is the true Gothic 4.
Arcania was made by some no name german developer with no experiance in RPGS (and it shows). Jowood just slapped on Gothic 4 on the end.

At work, I have to accept the flaccid, tepid, vacuous dribbles of the ever-loathsome psu dot com (I'm blocked from reading ps3fanboy/joystiq). Thank you guys for always bringin a smile to my heart and a lil tear to my lil eye. Okay maybe not a whole tear. But still! Oh yeah. And I might rent this game.
