Strong Bad's Cool Game gets Attractive $15 price on PSN
39
Dear Joystiq,
Can you recommend any good, cheep adventure games on PlayStation Network?
With lots of crap,
Brad Butler
Well, Butter Face, as a matter of fact we can recommend a good, "cheep" adventure game on PSN. Check out Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People, which crams in five Strong-Bad-Packed episodes for only 15 simoleons starting December 21. That's half the price of the PC version! Just imagine all the cold ones you could purchase with that extra dough in the pocket of your stale, unwashed jeans. Or maybe you could pay someone to wash your jeans. Seriously, B-man, you should do something about those.
Yours,
Joystiq

$5 is attractive. $15 is play the demo and buy it when it goes on sale for $7.50. Assuming I like it.

@sammo21 What's wrong with wanting more for less? The people who make gamers "Wrong"...are the ones who ask for multiplayer for games that don't need it, buy things like PS+, and waste money on Home, avatars, and themes.

PS+, a service that costs $50 for 15 months right now, is giving out a $35 game that I wanted this month. I've already gotten way more than $50 worth of games and am not even half done with my subsciption yet. The PS+ bashing isn't clever anymore. If you don't buy that much stuff on PSN, it's ridiculously well worth it. You don't have to pay for it if you don't want to. It boils down to this:
I've gotten more than $100 worth of games for $50...and I'm not even half done yet. Stop being so damn bitter.

@mywhitenoise What's wrong is that these things are priced high because it costs a lot to make a professional game. They need to make a profit or they can't keep making games.
This is also the problem with buying games used. If you buy a used game, the developers make none of the money from it. You may be asking, "Why should I care?" Well, do you like playing Tough Guy Shoots Aliens On A Brown Planet? Good, because that's all you'll get.
If developers aren't making a decent amount of money on unconventional gaming genres, like indie adventure games, they'll stop producing them. Right now, the most reliable investments are the Halo, Call of Duty, and God of War knockoffs. Whether or not they are good, they tend to make a decent amount of cash.
If you want to see developers making better games, you have to be willing to pay for the quality when it matters. If you think SBCG4AP is a good game, buy it before the developers start begging you with their pathetically low prices. Then you'll get more like it.
The gamers who buy useless extra shit aren't hurting anybody except themselves. Gamers who expect more for less are actually doing harm to the industry.
If you don't think SBCG4AP is a crappy game and not worth $15, that's fine, but I remember when this kind of fuss was raised over Braid. Braid was an amazing game, and people thought $10 was too much for it. What planet are these people from? You pay $10 for a two-hour movie. You pay $10 for a dinner at a restaurant. $10 is a reasonable freaking price.
SBCG4AP has the same amount of gameplay as a retail game. When it first came out, it was broken down into 5 $10 episodes. Now you can get the whole thing for $15. And that's an unreasonable price? Why is it that when a game is on a disc, suddenly we're willing to pay $50 for it?

@ddrussianinja I buy all my games on release day...but I always manage to pay $40 or less (through amazon, promotions...or whatever). There are always loopholes to be found, for instance I bought AC: Brotherhood for $10 on release day.
Thing with Digital content, is that they NEVER go on sale (unless its on Steam), and you should at least be able to try out a demo before making a purchase. So I don't think it's unfair of him to ask for a demo.

I don't have that many friends with PS3s and I don't trust random strangers with my account. Besides, I don't like feeling like I'm cheating developers out of money because that's essentially what gamesharing is. Rationalize it however you like.

I'd buy this, BTTF and Sam & Max S3 in a snap if they were on XBLA. Did Microsoft and Telltale have a massive argument or something?

And to think! I could've paid $50 for this on WiiWare instead! I love online infrastructures that allow for bundles and discounts. *coyly looks Nintendo's way*

Wow Joystiq, I'm kinda proud of you.
Somewhere between your review of Poker Night where you showed you had no interest or knowledge of Strong bad, to now where you are playing on the very thing he does, you actually did your homework and researched who the guy is!
WOW. Now go fix the Poker Night review.

Solid parody! I was really into homestarrunner a while back and this article + comments takes me back.
I will buy this! I skipped on Wii because I don't feel like figuring out the wiiware system.... PSN/XBLA much simpler

I was waiting for this to come out on Disc for the Wii but for $15 Digital I'll snatch it up first thing.

Ugh I hated this on the Wii. I used to love StrongBad and the gang, but now it's just...not funny and predictably stupid. I would definitely recommend this to someone who hasn't experienced the funniness of Homestarrunner, I guess.

Will this be playstation move compatible? Hate pointing with a control stick, but this is at least a way better deal than on wii...with trophies to boot!

I have little prior experience with the Homestar Runner site or its characters, but $15 for five eps of a game from the same outfit that did the Sam & Max series? Looks like my holiday gaming just got carved in stone for me.
