And no-one was surprised.
Honestly I was underwhelmed a little by the trailer. Nothing too "oh shit" about the it, unlike the 2nd games trailer.

it hurts what exactly? That I'm not fangasming like everyone else over something anyone should of predicted after playing ME 2? That the reapers attacking earth is the only real way they could top assaulting the collector base, and that they'd have to include Earth somewhere in the trilogy at one point?
Well sorry that, when compared to the other trailers, it was only a little better than the Thor game. The trailer was just a swing and a miss to me, which shouldn't be so hard to fathom possible for anyone, much less Bioware.

@DevilSei So everything has to be unexpected? In that case let me do you a favor and save you some money. Avoid these titles, Zelda, Mario, Metroid, Gran Turismo, Pokemon and every other JRPG. You just came in the thread to go against the grain, you knew people would be excited and wanted to be different; which is fine when you give reasoning other than you expected it. By those standards your favorite movies must be made by M. Night Shyamalan, maybe he will start making games soon.

@Doctor Doom
What kevadu said, perhaps Doctor Doom needs someone to check his eyes besides himself?
Batman: Arkham City: Amazing trailer. We knew it was in the city, we knew Hugo had a major part to play, but the way they portrayed it wasn't what I'd expect at least, and was interesting.
But ME 3? We knew they were targeting earth, we knew there'd only be 3 games, so 2 + 2 = Reaper attack on Earth. Sure them destroying the city was cool, but so what? What else could they have done, weave flower crowns out of dandelions and skip gayly through meadows with us?
It would of been FAR, far more interesting to show the attack as how it started. Let us see them as it just begins, since its obvious the Earth will already be under Reaper control when we play.
Also, I wish for once they wouldn't show Shepard in the trailers. Make it about the people suffering, then zoom out from the planet to show the Normandy S3(?) approaching, with the silhouettes of other ships close behind it.
A reason people might play male shepard so much, is because Bioware seems to force his image into every teaser. Making the gender more ambiguous might help.

@piez
I guess for me the argument would be:
Why are they making a big deal on earth? Yes, it's important to us humans, but what about the tons of other planets taken over by The Reapers? Aren't they important too? I just assume that with Earth not being the only planet inhabited by life, they would have made the story broader than just an earth attack. Then again, I don't know the whole story so maybe this is the result of total Reaper control & Earth is their last target.

Would you rather they changed Shepards sex in every time they showed a trailer or footage?
Cause you know that would make it so much more coherent.

Wow, I didn't know ambiguous = switch genders all the time, I must be really out of date with the English language, cause I didn't know the definition changed from "Doubtful or uncertain" to "Constantly switch from one gender to another".

Well, the Reapers may have started to view humanity as a real threat. Who stopped Sovereign? Who killed the Terminator Reaper? Who destroyed the Collector Base? A team led by a human.
For all we know, Earth may have just been their first target, and other places are being attacked, but they want to get rid of humanity ASAP.
