"Humble Bundle" no longer seems like an appropriate name. In less than 24 hours upon release, the pay-what-you-want indie game collection Humble Bundle #2 earned over $500,000 in revenue and appears to be well on its way to beating the first bundle's seven-figure returns.
The Humble Bundle website offers an interesting look into purchasing trends by providing real-time stats. As of writing, over 70,000 people have purchased the pack, including Minecraft creator Markus Persson, who paid an extraordinary $2,000, and Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling, who went with a generous $500 payment. The average selling price for the bundle is currently $7 and change.
The Humble Bundle #2 includes five celebrated indie titles: Braid, Cortex Command, Machinarium, Osmos and Revenge of the Titans. Purchasers can divide their payments between the developers, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Child's Play Charity as they see fit.

Funny that 3 of the (current) top 4 contributers seeming did so just as an advertisement. Pretty smart since it's going to charity and should be a tax write-off anyway.

goes to show just how smug and self absorbing people are. why so much care about who paid how much, is there a set amount that sets you from a selfish d!ck to a supportive human being?
Is the company who donated thousands of dollars to spam their site any better then the guy who can get 5 games or 2 bucks if he wants.

Then you clearly fail at noticing that windows counts for just over 50% of total sales while linux and mac slipt the remaining percentage virtually evenly. Let me repeat that: linux and mac account for over 20% of total sales each! And considering the average price payed by linux users in particular it would be interesting to see more developers keeping an eye to this OS.

Yeah, and how many sales is the total?
Linux is such a pathetically small minority of the OS out there that no large-budget game would EVER care about it. Hell, 90% of the large-budget games out there barely care about PC releaseds at all.

Windows comes up to roughly 47,600 people.
Mac comes to 17,200.
Linux about 10,300.
If Mac is a viable gaming platform now, these figures might also indicate that Linux is also a potential market and (interesting tidbit) one that is not adverse to shelling out more cash for quality games.
Of course this is just one instance and you'd need a whole lot more values to actually make an analysis. But it makes you wonder...

@ironneko It could also indicate Linux users are desperate for games. Hard to draw any conclusions with these numbers. Linux users have a higher average purchase....which means we can speculate that either Linux users are more affluent OR they are really determined to send a message that they want games to exist on Linux. Possibly there is another reason in there, but those are the two obvious ones to me. I think it's probably the second one though.
There can be no complaining about this bundle, though. All three platforms, no DRM. It's as gaming should be!

It's merely reconstructing your brain in a manner that, while useless for everyday tasks like driving and using the toilet, will be perfectly adapted should you ever trip balls around your house, attempting to fetch jigsaw pieces guarded by mechanisms that require you to manipulate time - like the ones in the blender.

I tried putting in "0.00" as the contribution, and it seemed to be working.
I didn't go with through with the transaction though, as Braid is the only game I would play and I already own that.
Looks like when they said "choose your own price" they really meant it. Surprising they had no minimum.

@Lazercat709 The first one was in May. Two occurrences doesn't make a pattern, certainly. But I wouldn't be too surprised to see it become a regular twice-yearly thing.

I doubt it, there are costs asscosiated with:
A)Transferring payments, either through paypal or credit card
B)Software and site maintenance
C)Bandwidth cost
I would think that those 3 would add up to more then the $0.50 the theif left them
As for Firetheif, maybe i'm being a douche, but I have set your profile up as one of my homepage tabs and will endevour to downvote each and every comment you ever make on any of AOL's sites. (Or anything else I can find for that matter, until I get bored.)

Hell, I'd downvote about 99% of the posts on Joystiq if I cared enough. Like most internet forum posts, most Joystiq comments are pathetic at worst and worthless at best.
Oh, and since when are indie developers a charity? Make a GOOD indie game, like Braid or Minecraft, and you'll make tons of money. Make a shitty indie game, like 99.99% of them are, and you'll make none, which is the way it should be.

Paid $60.
40 to devs, a little over 15 to EFF, and the rest was a tip.
The reason I picked EFF is partly the reason I bought the bundle at all: to support non-DRM'ed software. Of course, I'm certainly very happy to get the games. I haven't played any of them, even Braid. I really want to buy some gog.com stuff too. That is on sale, so I hear.

Same here. I was never gonna buy these games so they get $0.01 out of me. Well after credit card fees it's probably 0.00
And yes you can choose 0.00 and proceed to checkout, but when you go to PayPal it won't let you put in 0.00. You have to put in at least a penny.
