Modern Combat: Domination makes a Move on PSN
29
PlayStation Move owners looking to experience more motion-based gaming might want to consider Modern Combat: Domination, a new online multiplayer shooter -- with Move support -- coming to PSN in January. It's being developed by Gameloft, which probably explains the unfortunately generic name.
There's a brief Gameloft-produced Q&A about the game over on the PlayStation Blog, discussing Domination's map design and some of the other non-Move details. The developer is counting on a "far less expensive" price and a focus on realism to help push it above other first-person shooters on PS3.

Dungeon Hunter? StarFront? Modern Combat?
Is someone getting PAID to come up with these names?

Gameloft's games are generally quite fun. Too bad they couldn't come up with an original idea to save themselves.

I understand where you're coming from, but they do what they do pretty well.
Games like this... affordable, derivative, pretty well made... I can live with that.
They can't all be thinking outside the box. Never underestimate the value of thinking inside the box, too!

I completely agree, their games are well made and affordable, which is never a bad thing.
It's just their tendency to (blatanly) rip off other games that gets me.

Ignoring the hud elements, one could easily think this was just another screen shot of carl doing his duty.

My fiancee plays some western shooting game on the Wii (wiiware) made by Gameloft, and she effing loves it. I can honestly say that it's fun, but I am no good at it.
Now that I think about it... the name was... Wild West Guns.
That's the NAME of the game.

If it's done right, and if fun to play this is just what we need. A really cheap FPS that is just right there ready to go, with your preferred control scheme too.

That really is an awful name, but if the price is right I might check it out.

@Nobledevil Gaming Optimist - I can guarantee you the price will be right.

i'd rather buy MAG or Modern Warfare used,

Exactly. If there was a Modern Warfare iPhone game, I'd have bought it. But there's not, so Gameloft essentially made it for Activision and just chaned the name a bit. That's the way I see it. Activision doesn't want to take the time to develop a mobile Call of Duty game, that's their loss. They could probably write a game while drunk and stoned, it could be complete garbage, and they'd still sell a million copies.

I'm going to get the prestige edition! It comes with day vision goggles and a remote controlled semi.

Ok, this was definitely supposed to be a reply. This wasn't a reply fail on my part, 100% posative. I blame the iPhone app, which I'm not sure why I still use, since it STILL HASN'T BEEN UPDATED TO SUPPORT iOS 4.0 FEATURES.
The above was supposed to be a reply, and I cut the following text to use as a normal comment:
The only thing about these Gameloft games is that yeah they are well done for mobile games, but they just aren't very compelling to me. They are trying to emulate console games, and in doing so, fall far shorter than I think they should be allowed. Zombie Infection is a great example. The controls are great, far better than the mobile Resident Evil games, but the game itself just is not compelling to me. I never finished it.
The demo for Modern Combat was Ok, once again, good trackpad-style control over the aimer, which is FAR better than a virtual stick on the right, but the game just didn't compell me to buy it.
NOVA seems like thier best title in the action series judging by the demo, despite the still-terrible story, voice acting, and script, but I still haven't bought it yet. I willat some point.
Basically, their console game had better be better than their console-clone-mobile games.
