I thought that CS2 was going to end up just being CS1 with a new character (that's going to be console DLC) and the console's balance patch

I'm fine with waiting for the actual sequel rather then an title update.

CS2 is just the console version ported to arcade. It gets all our balance tweaks, since the disc version launched with tweaks the arcade version didn't get. Plus it gets Makoto and Valkenhyne. All I could really care for is the new game mode, for PSP version.
Other then that CS2=CS1. Since all stuff avaliable for CS2 is on CS1 except this new game mode.

*smacks forehead*
why? to cough up an other 40 bucks for 3 extra characters that you may or may not play as VS an update that will give you enough engin changes on your character (and vs other characters) to last you a few months AND the option of buying the extras...

Because if you know anything about gaming past you'll know that before when every fighter was getting yearly title updates it flooded and crashed the fighting market. Fight games were at their all time low. And it's not $40 for a 3 characters, so for I've paid 14 for two. Had this been a title update I would've paid 40 for 2 and minor tweaks, which they update CS with tweaks. It would take about 6 characters to be released at the $7 price tag to equal one cost of a new title update. I'm much more fine with buying 6 characters then paying $40 for just two a few tweaks and a possible level being added. Ofcourse I'd much more enojy free characters, but sense a lot of work goes into play testing balancing, creating personality and such it's a very expensive process.
That's why I'm fine with paying $7 for DLC. I've talked with people who do pro fighting games before and they were pissed BB didn't just get a title update I explained this, they understood. DLC characters actually saves you money in the long run and helps them take longer to make the newer iteration and work on tweaks and patches to the new one.

Error.

Continuum Shift 2 is a major balance update that is so severe that it's considered a sequel by hardcore fighting gamers.

Think of it more the difference between Calamity Trigger and Continuum Shift, the differences could be that big.

Rachel back in top tier, Ragna back in bottom. :(
Bang stays at top...

Hopefully they put more effort into psp version this time, BB1 psp graphically didn't push psp to the limit

Why should a hand drawn 2D fighter push the PSP? It doesn't push the 360 or PS3 either. It looks just like it did on consoles.

@The Aquacharger: Well the 2d character sprites are of low resolution, even compared to those of Guilty Gear psp, and the polygon background on consoles has became 2D pre-rendered scenes, which I can understand as retaining 3D isn't practical, but those pre-rendereds were really blurry, too. Also a lot of special effects were omitted.

Dumb question, I'm sure, but I thought there was only 1 DLC character in CS. Makoto. If I'm correct, aren't the other two downloadable characters obtainable in the game it's self?

Makoto and then Rachel's butler are two DLC characters. Everything else, except color and voices, can be earned in game.

This is great news! I wasn't even expecting them to try, what with the PSP being near dead and all.

For everyone who doesn't follow this closely, the idea is that the console version of CS will basically be, through DLC, upgraded to be CS2. As far as I'm aware, the inclusion of Makoto, Valkenhayn, and Platinum as well as balance patches are what makes CS into CS2.

So far, we are 2/3 the way there, with Makoto and (FINALLY on 360) Valkenhayn being released. There was mention about Platinum being released in spring, so I suppose this would correlate pretty well with the PSP release having all 3 characters.
