@Evin I know man I know! I just want to know what happened to Laura. After that bit with the whole showing of compassion, she just became an awesome character to me. Especially after all the asshattery she put you through prior to that moment.

Excellent. While not quite polished enough to be GOTY material, it was definitely one of the better titles this year, and with that ending I can't wait to see how they flesh it out some more.

They need some DLC to make the protagonist's small head more proportional to his body.

In the game where you use an Italian-designed super crucifix to fight satan, you can put aside your disbelief enough to look past something like that? Have you played Altered beast?!?

Awesome. Konami is one of the few Japanese developers still worth a crap.

Playing Jackal on Game Room right now. A gaming masterpiece. Make a new Jackal Konami! Yeh!

"notorious enemy" = Death. it has to happen. it's a hallmark of Castlevania and the lack of a battle with "it" in the main game was very disappointing.

@XperimntNterror But Death is there in the very end credits, obvious they haven't seen each other since the fight with Satan. Plus th fact that he has to be in the sequel.

but there was no fight with Death (there were those necromancers, but it's not the same unless it's simply called "Death"). and being that it is Death, it can't exactly be put on permanent ice; just a temporary hiatus. :)

@XperimntNterror I don't want to post spoilers. But the guy Gabriel is talking to at the very end of the game. Like the VERY VERY end, the guy in the suit, HE is Death, the final of the Lords of Shadow.

@Robborboy ha ha! i know who you're talking about. :) i forgot about that fight with him before the fight with Satan, but it still wasn't the same. Maybe a battle royale with Slogra and Gaibon? i had heard awhile ago that Mercury Steam had an interest in using Alucard in the series. I wonder if he'll get included in the DLC... as an enemy?!?

Dang it, i just sent this game back to gamefly. I guess I'll have to re-put it on my GameQ. Great game, [ED: Let's leave the major spoilers out of it, okay?]. Like Kingdom Hearts-confused.
Maybe theres a timeline that places each game in correct chronological order somewhere...

@bshido Lords of Shadow is a reboot of the franchise. It does not fit into the storyline of the old games in any way.

the detailed, organic graphics in this game are amazing.

EVERY single area looks different, with no "flat" walls anywhere.

gorgeous music - awesome game, made almost entirely in Spain. (who knew?)

The post credits scene was very mind melting; I'd like to hear Luddy's thoughts on it during the podcast. A spoiled rotten would be great to, despite the game's lack of narrative depth, but I doubt we'll get one because of Justin's vehement distaste for the game, as well as that, despite the fitting moniker of that segment, the game is past its prime.

If it hadn't been for the rediculously difficult bosses in that game I would have maybe finished it. The graphics were awesome and the story quite good - but the game was too difficult to me (even on easy) :(

@Anciegher Agreed. I'm not allergic to difficult games (Hell, my favorite game of this entire generation is Bayonetta) but there were times when I found this game to be a lot more frustrating than any of those so-called "notoriously difficult" games. When I got to the final boss and got the save-wiping bug, it felt like an insult to injury.

A little more polish and this series could be a real contender, though.

My only personal wish is that future heroes are a little more... mundane and human than Gabriel. It makes sense why Gabriel's journey is as epic as it is but I really hope they don't get lazy and find an excuse to make every Belmont that way from now on (I'm not asking for Wes Anderson's Castlevania but let's face it, the last 1/3rd of this game went INSANE).

Really disappointing to inadvertently read the endgame spoilers from other comments with absolutely ZERO warning. Even tho the story was very mellow dramatic, I'm still bummed to to have a read a couple blabber mouths spewing without the obligatory "SPOILER ALERT!". May Gabriel smack you across the ass with his combat cross!

I thoroughly enjoyed this game from beginning to end, and assuming this DLC will be reasonably priced, I will definitely have to buy it at launch. And that's weird for me... I typically don't buy DLC!

Damn good game though. I was sad to see the reviews as low as they were, thinking that people out there didn't enjoy it as much as I did. What can ya do though?

@Robborboy
It helps most games with a good ad agency automatically make above average scores. Anything scored 6-9 these days is more like a 4-7 at best, of coarse no one cares about the past or better qaulity they just want to get their rocks off supposedly new....

As a game nazi I see little difference in LOI,COD and LOS, all are unpolished short sighted games forgetting what substance and mechanics are to create an over simplified film like experience.

LOS manages to come out on top with that(streamline film exp) but the limited game play, level layouts and dissonance between mechanics and game story...its just crap.

LOI/COD have issues as well, level layouts are flat and bland, equipment system could been balanced a bit better but the main offender was keeping to the Dpad for special moves.Trying to ignore the story as they all hurt brains, I think LOI was better half od COD made sense after a beer or 2, talking LOS into whole context...its like.... oh fck it Solyent Commando made more sense and was better story wise.

IMO the game is the same as the others only with different problems.

Thought the game was great, probably the most underrated game of 2010. Working on 110 percenting it now.

With all due respect to the Joystiq community, there are too many spoilers in this thread. For the most part, if you want to discuss the end of a game/final boss/cutscenes/credits/etc. DM each other or go somewhere with a forum regarding the content of a game. Even stating "the final boss was too hard/easy" is a spoiler to many gamers. Props to those who gave prior warning. Let's keep it clean here, folks.
