The game will task one to four adventurers with crawling through the "Mines of Tethyamar" in a hack-and-slashy manner, giving them access to new weapons, feats and powers along the way. The game's info page on Atari's website promises both couch and online co-op, but does not clear up who "Dale" is, nor why he has such a penchant for short, bladed weapons. Hopefully the game's announcement trailer, posted after the jump, will shed some light on the situation.
Dungeons and Dragons Daggerdale coming to XBLA, PSN and PC next year

Some people might not have the patience for the table-based version of Dungeons and Dragons and its required calculations (or required imagination) -- but that doesn't mean they have to go entirely without the thrill of Dungeoneering. Atari and Scratch: The Ultimate DJ developer Bedlam Games announced their next project this morning: Dungeons and Dragons Daggerdale, a multiplayer action-RPG for Xbox Live, PSN and PC.

Sweet, another co-op dungeon crawl. Seriously, why are the pickings so slim for this generation of consoles? Well whatever, these guys are guaranteed some money from my direction anyway.

@Sylath I totally agree. Hack and lash co-op is where it's at! The nostalgia of playing late into the night with Baldur's Gate on the ps2 has me wanting to go out and buy a backwards compatible ps3 just to play it again. I guess I can wait for this attempt on classic dungeon crawlers that snow-blind has made famous.

@Sylath Couldnt agree more. I'm sssooo tired of these war games getting rehashed over and over with a couple new graphic enhancements and 1 or 2 new gameplay ideas. Gimmee some diversity for my 360... and diversity doesn't mean 8 racing sims, 10 war sims, 9 guitar players, and 11 ways to sweat my fat azz off with Kinect.

@Raiderfan Open your eyes man there is loads of diversity on the machine. More RPGs, board games, puzzle and everything else is on xbl.
Everyone go out now and retry Game Room. It's vastly improved and the games are classically incredible.

This looks potentially cool... but I really wish the old Capcom D&D games would come to XBLA/PSN. But I assume licensing issues are in the way.

Looks good. Depends on the price point though. If it is 800, hell yea. If it is more than that, Nope.

$5 makes that much of a difference?
Just go without Taco Bell for a meal and you've saved that extra cash!

I would lay a solid golden egg if D&D arcade comes to DLC. Come on with it already be it TSR, Wizards of the Coast, Capcom get this franchise out of the red tap and make some serious money.

I'm rediscovering Baulders Gate and BG2 riiiight now thanks to Gog.com. Realizing how cool these multicharacter nonfirstperson RPGs really were. I play all the fallout 3 and Oblivian stuff and liked it pretty well. That said, I didn't realize how much fun that old style was. Being able to pause each round, select options, watch it play out, change strategy, etc. It's really fun. I think we lost something when we went first person and real time with everything. I'm more excited about BG and Icewind Dale than I am about finishing new Vegas....and I looooved fallout 3.

Icewind Dale and Icewind Dale 2 were masterpieces. I loved how it was pretty much just Baldur's Gate except that you create your entire party from scratch right off the bat which I actually liked more than having to add characters to your party. Also, once you beat the game you can replay it and all of the 'special' weapons were upgraded.

Anything to rekindle to joy found while playing the two Baldur's Gate and Champions games...
This console generation we only had Sacred and I guess Too Human in the genre - neither of which were that good. Someone want to point me towards some undiscovered co-op gem?

@Professor Lario The first Marvel Ultimate Alliance was a pretty good diablo type game. I did not enjoy the second one.

@Professor Lario Soma Bringer for the DS is a fantastic co-op action RPG by Monolith Soft (the same studio that developed the Xenosaga and Baten Kaitos series), but Nintendo (who published Soma Bringer in Japan) stubbornly refuses to localize the game for a North America or Europe release.
Fortunately, there is an excellent fan translation for the game.
Unfortunately, playing the game with English text requires a flashcart and a ROM dump of the retail game. It gets into legal gray areas from there, so I'll leave the rest to Google.
As for titles that HAVE been released in North America and Europe, I recommend Champions of Norrath and Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light. But it sounds like you've already played Champions.

@Peretz Thanks for the info about Soma Bringer - I shall look it up. There are a few other good single-player ARPG titles on the DS as well.
I do have both Champions and both Dark Alliance titles. I guess forbidden Kingdom on the PS3 falls into the same category, but it was just soulless.
I do hope co-op Torchlight comes to XBLA or PSN. And of course a Diablo 3 port would take the cake.

Co-op gem? Hopefully you've played New Super Mario Bros & Little Big Planet.
If you specifically want hack n slash - There is Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom on PS3. It's not nearly as good as the PS2 gen hack and slash, but virtually the same engine. Just felt a bit rushed I guess.

My appologies Jack, I didn't get to finish my thoughts. I was commenting from my phone before work when a co-worker came up and informed me we were having an impromptu union meeting before work. I thought I turned it off before I put it in my pocket but apparently not, and my butt took things from there. To finish... this looks good and hopefully with it's success and the success of others on XBLA, developers will see that they can have an imagination and still make money rather than trying to see who can be the first to put MCLXXIV after Modern Warfare or Guitar Hero. With that said I sheepishly admit I've still got wood from the anouncement of Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim... 11-11-11

D&D hosts things now called "D&D Encounters", where they play the same storyline at local hobbyshops every week. You can bring your premade chars or often they supply you with them. It's an amazing way to meet new people or get a quick D&D fix without commitment. Check the WotC website and go to Encounters to find a hobby shop near you hosting.

God I wish I could play real D and D online. Find a group of adults who are mature and play. (kinda like a key party kids-ask your parents!) If only the Microsoft Surface were cheap...and loaded with that dungeon and dragons thing. Imagine playing that online from your surface using miniatures!

@The Wicker Man it's been years since i've played real DnD but i always felt that part of the fun was getting together with people face to face to interact and play. man, too bad it's so hard to do now as an adult. (plus no one wants to GM... takes so much effort)
