Red Dead Redemption doubling XP until 2011
26
Who needs a double XP weekend, when you can have a double XP week? Rockstar is giving fans of Red Dead Redemption's multiplayer modes ten days to start raking in twice as many experience points than normal. Starting today and going all the way until January 3rd, you'll get double XP for all activity in any online mode. The promotion is happening on both Xbox Live and PlayStation Network, so jump online and shoot some zombie bears or something.

Do these XP bonuses even work on people? I mean, if the game is good, you're probably playing it already and if it isn't, I kinda doubt that extra XP is going to convince you to start playing it again.
Just my opinion though.

I haven't touched the game in about a month. I'm gonna be playing again now to try and get up to rank 50.

@blueskyv201 I'm sure it convinces some otherwise cured achievement junkies to lapse back into their old habit, at leas it would if RDR has a rank achievement, it does right?

Two minutes after posting this a saw that Team Fortress 2 will double the item drop rate for the last week of 2010.
I retract my original statement.

Convinces me! :) I started at level 1, and last time there was a weekend on I levelled to level 34. Now I can comfortably get up to level 50. :)

Just not feeling RDR these days. I loved that game, but I couldn't even manage to finish Undead Nightmare due to so many games out there. RDR was a fantastic experience, my top game of 2010 for sure, but that was then and this is now and I've got to be movin' on. Sorry Ma'am.

You see there exists such a thing as gamers who like variety in their gaming. Gamers who, after playing any CoD game, realize that the multiplayer is largely the same thing (albeit with new perks, guns, and maps). However those small changes aren't enough to satisfy these gamers' need for variety. So instead of playing the same game for days on end in a desperate attempt to reach a prestige level which is only for show, these gamers play a variety of different games, which offer different experiences, because that is what those gamers crave.
And contrary to the belief of many avid CoD gamers, these Variety Gamers are not creatures of myth and legend. How do I know this, you ask? Well it is simple, I am one of those gamers.

Well as one of those mythical gamers, I imagine you might as well also name yourself "The Most Interesting Man in the World" and replace that Dos Equis guy. You earned it!

"so jump online and shoot some zombie bears or something."
Um the Undead Nightmare does not allow for online multiplayer free roam. So, no there's no way to shoot zombie bears online, unfortunately. That would rock though.

I already hit the max level months ago. It really doesnt take that long compared to games like Halo reach or Gears 2.

This is kind of funny if you think about XP being the first two letters of ΧΡΙΣΤΟΣ.
