Epic Games to reveal new IP at GDC 2011

New IP, schmew IP. Give me Shadow Complex 2, dammit.

Infinity Blade was sold based on looks. Not too long after people started playing did they start to hate it. A sale is a sale right?

Well my guess is a 360 title since Cliffy prefers 360 over PS3. Well the controller really. But maybe it would be mulitplatform for more profits.

Well the also claimed that we'd hear a major unexpected Gears announcement at the VGAs, but you see how that turned out >:(

It's bullshit that they're making another new IP that'll be bland and uninspired as Gears no doubt when they've abandoned the only franchise a huge portion of their fanbase cares about, Unreal Tournament.

I don't care about brown, bloom, or chainsaw guns and meat people. I want electronica, vibrant colors, a y axis, twitch shooting at a rapid pace with cutting edge technology that scales easily.

It's either Jazz Jackrabbit 2 or Unreal III. Both of which would be amazing.....if Jazz Jackrabbit 2 was done in the style of Super Mario Galaxy but with HD~!, that would sell a ton.

Or something completely different....Deadly Towers II?

In the age of franchises I really respect Epic for taking the risk to put out new IPs, most of which aren't half bad.

i'm all for new IP. hopefully it isn't just Gears of War or UT re-skinned ... not that there's anything wrong with those games.

Considering Gears of War was their last new IP I'm excited to see what their 3rd new series of games will be. And no I don't count the crummy side projects and Bulletstorm is by People Can Fly.

Yay another 6 year cycle of broken MP dominated by screaming racists under the age of 10 begins.

Still waiting on a Jill of the Jungle sequel.

It's unlikely that this is the case, as it's technically not a "new" IP, but I hope Epic explores the world of "Gears of War" prior to the Locust invasion on Emergence Day.

The opportunity to play as Marcus, Dom, his brother Carlos, Baird when they were younger would be fun. Or even better, let us see the world of Gears through the eyes of Hoffman when he was a young soldier.

I've read the first Gears of War novel, which explores the time period prior to Emergence Day, and it's fantastic. Can't wait to sink into the 2nd and 3rd books.

So judging from his quote, I assume Epic will try to make a better version of whats been done before...?

AH! Here we go again. A mass of hype only to be delayed information just like they did for the VGA's. In other words. Just nod your head, turn around and walk away. Epic is becoming the laughing stock of the gaming industry. Their Engine is only really functional on the Xbox 360 because that's what it was built around, and even though they consider themselves "genius'," they can't figure out the PlayStation 3. Not to mention that Mark Rein is dragging the company down with his bias and man-love for the 360. Is it really about expanding your audience Cliffy B, or what? Are you gonna let all the other developers do your dirty work on the PS3 and come in at the last minute and say, "Oh yeah, I'm the 'Creative Uncle.' " or what? I guess, if someone wanted to bring Naughty Dog in, then you're not very wise. Unlike Naughty Dog, Polyphony Digital, etc. Sony actually owns them. Epic are freelance.

Yeah. Just nod your head saying 'O.k,' and move on to something else. Neither Microsoft nor Epic can deliver. What a shame. Trapped and barred down by console bias.
