Regarding the movie: I'm happy to hear that Mark Wahlberg isn't a guarantee for Drake, and that the story might not be as "Un" Uncharted as originally claimed (even by Joystiq - no less). It's ashame the internet is so full of crap and lies - people just looking to make a "shocking" story, they'll believe (and post) anything with any kind of spin. This is not a knock against Joystiq, even though they're just as guilty - they do the best they can with the info they're given.

I suppose it's just a reality of the internet and rumours these days.

The good news from all this - Nathan Fillion could still land the lead role, the movie could still follow the games storyline and David O Russell might not be a complete idiot.

@Axcalibur Hollywood does this all the time with established (geek) properties, leaking rumors to gauge fan reaction. So everyone be as negative about Marky Mark as possible, is basically what I'm saying here.

@mywhitenoise what are we supposed to be laughing at, and what's going to happen? Nathan Fillion is going to be cast and we should laugh at that? Or Mark Wahlberg, Joe Pesci and Robert DeNiro are going to be cast and we should laugh at that? That statement was incredibly vague. David O Russel saying he doesn't know Nathan Fillion doesn't mean he's lying about not casting Wahlberg

@TheDarkWayne I'm saying Wahlberg is likely going to take the role of Drake...and it sucks. I'm saying O'Russell is full of shit about the rumors, even though HE has told people about the plot line. I'm 110% for Fillion,

"First of all, all that stuff was denied by David O. Russell," Richmond said. "He actually called us up and was like, 'I don't know what these guys are talking about.'" And Mark Wahlberg isn't anywhere near to being confirmed to play Nathan Drake either -- it's just Hollywood scuttlebutt, apparently. Still, I dutifully told Richmond that the Joystiq Biomass had chosen, and Nathan Fillion has our vote. Message received, Richmond responded."

...thank you, guys. I wasn't worried about UNCHARTED3 because I know NDI could churn out yet another hit. They're tried and true for that. Hollywood however . . .

One question I would love for joystiq to ask Naughty Dog is, if
adding a mp to the game shorting the great single player experience?

Yes I did, but it was more like an afterthought of the mp side.
I just do not want them to cut back on the space for the single player
side for extra mp.

Not for Move. WTF? I haven't played 1 or 2 of Uncharted and was hoping for Move in number 3. I suck as first person shooting with a controller. Why doesn't Naughty Dog consider the Move to expand their user base instead of just catering to there current Uncharted fans?

If you think Uncharted is an FPS then you obviously aren't an Uncharted Fan to begin with. You need to dive into our world and learn how to play Uncharted instead of us slapping on easy point and click mechanics so we can cater to the fact that you can't play video games.

Learn to how play video games instead of expecting everything handed to you on an easy motion gaming platter. If you're unwilling to learn then stick to the essential sports mini-games.

Then play 1 & 2. Drake's Fortune is Greatest Hits, so you can find it for 30 bux or less, and Among Thieves went GOTY for 40 bux. There's no reason to not buy these games if you own a PS3.

If you have not played first 2 games, then you better go out, buy both games play them through at least 2 times or 3 times each. Practice night and day and then get ready for 11-1-11 because you know its going to be AWESOME.

because they would basically have to make a whole new and different game to make it work well. ND doesnt do crappy stuff. the move plays completely differently than a controller, so the whole game would have to be made a second time around the move. they just dont have time for that.

im guessing though that they will come out with a new/different game for the move in good time (2 years?)

I've been saying they should have seedy bars where fights could break out even since the first game. As a matter of fact my friends an I have been expecting this sort of thing as the type of experience that sets it apart from the aged and dying Tomb Raider franchise. The world is so much more rich and dynamic with a greater level of reality not just in the physics but in the characters and motivations.

Yeah, I too would have liked to see more of the seedy underground world of thieves that Drake is involved in. I thought we'd be getting that in Uncharted 2. I hope there's more urban areas with citizens and cars driving around, that would be awesome. I imagine the teaser demo for the rumored "Beyond Good and Evil" sequel.

I'd rather they prolonged the game with an episodic single player chapter or two. UC2's multiplayer was fun for a couple days, but didn't have the long lasting appeal of the CoD's and BFBC2's.

Not every game needs multiplayer. I hate that trend. Uncharted is a story rich game, so tell more stories and leave the multiplayer out.

Just my opinion.

@iceveiled Actually... The multiplayer is incredibly fun. It's the only multiplayer I actually like, and it's the reason Uncharted 2 is basically the "default disc" for my PS3. There's just something uniquely enjoyable about a competitive multiplayer that's part platformer and part shooter.

To be clear, if you enjoy cinematic, story-driven gaming experiences, there is absolutely nothing in the same league as the Uncharted series.

The first Uncharted remains one of my favorite "shooters" this generation. I played through it three times, and I rarely play games twice. It had a few minor issues (that I think the games media has overblown in retrospect), but it can't be denied that it was a gorgeous, funny and well-constructed game.

Yet the second game managed to be a stratospheric improvement: better mechanics, better writing and the best visuals this generation. No other game has left me with my jaw hanging open so consistently. My then girlfriend would make popcorn to watch me play, yet I never felt like I was "watching" the game like so many other cinematic games.

I love Uncharted. I don't think anything else comes close. I don't know how to say it more plainly than that.

Oh yeah, so I guess I'll pick up this "Uncharted 3" business. If I have time.

i couldn't agree with you more. i picked up the first one on sale somewhere after hearing people raving about it and it was a great experience though i didn't feel like i was very good at it. i actually ended up not finishing it (the last 3 chapters) until after i ordered Uncharted 2. and once i picked 1 back up, it just clicked and i rode it into Uncharted 2 which turned out to be the most encapsulating game i've played this generation hands down. it was an amazing game and to anyone who hasn't played it, you're doing yourself a disservice. i might actually try to do the midnight launch thing for Uncharted 3, and i haven't done that since GTA IV. Naught Dog just knows exactly what they are doing and have been on my short list of favorite devs since Crash Bandicoot.

I still chuckle at David O. Russell. At least he can never degrade the games.

Also, I'm very glad Naughty Dog is continuing their philosophy of keeping co-op, single and multiplayer all separate from one another. It worked great for U2.

Focus on a brilliant single player campaign, add a side of co-op that's completely separate and doesn't detract from the aforementioned single player and toss in some multiplayer since you already have the makings for it... BUT! Continue to support multiplayer via DLC as to make it an optional venture.

Shear brilliance. I can't wait for GOTY 2011.
