It's next to the Vos Plaza. Really small, white collar town. Traffic gets a little congested in the morning because of lack of larger roads downtown, and because I take up both lanes...

Yeah, let's all applaud while they throw another person in prison for a non-violent offense. This is why prisons are overpopulated. You're a moron if you think this guy deserved to do time.

@Misanthropic Gamer...Perhaps if this guy was using pirated copies for personal use, but he was selling the hard work and ideas of others for his own profit. That stealing. Thats exactly what prison is for.

Agreed. Maybe instead of jail time they should have perhaps some type of counseling and charity work.

@Faenix Nothing wrong with downloading music and games to try them out and see if you like them. Now selling the copied software, now that's just low.

Sometimes pirating can be the only option. Like what if you wanted to play a game that is no longer sold in stores & the only way to get it again is to pay 200* bucks to some guy on Ebay or Amazon to play it again. Pirating games is one thing, selling pirates as real copies is another

Jedi Code

There is no emotion, there is peace.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge.
There is no passion, there is serenity.
There is no chaos, there is harmony.
There is no death, there is the Force.

Sith Code

Peace is a lie. There is only passion.
Through passion, I gain strength.
Through strength, I gain power.
Through power, I gain victory.
Through victory, my chains are broken.
The Force shall set me free.

I dunno about you but the Jedi sounds like some insane cult. The Sith teachings make more sense and fall in line with more modern culture.

It does suck though that most games demonize the Sith and champion the Jedi. I'd like to see a game that isn't so black and white about it. The Empire is bad no doubt, but the Emperor Darth Sideous is hardly a Sith, he just uses them for his own twisted means.

Yes, scum of the earth. Because not paying for a digital copy of something is worse then rape, murder, hate crimes, stalking, or making someone live in constant fear of your harassment. Or even robbing a bank, stealing someone's personal belongings, blowing up someone's car, spreading pictures of one who got too drunk at a party all over facebook or forcing children to make pornography to sell online.

You're right, someone pirating GAME software they never intended to buy in the first place is a most heinous crime, a blight of humanity, the scum of the earth. Get your priorities straight man.

I take it you've never bought an album because you liked a song on it and then you find out that the rest of the album is absolutely awful.

SSDD with video games. People used to download demos to games to try them out to see if they like them. People began to wise up to this when they bought games that they demoed and it turned out the demo showcased the only playable part of the game.

All of these industries brought this upon themselves, and have continued to do this for the past ten or so years. Various degrees of DRM on all platforms, including CD's (that went real well) on top of products that DO NOT deserve a top dollar price point being sold for top dollar as well as incomplete/broken products...

Sorry. I have no sympathy for the industry. There's a reason why indie developers and musicians have done incredibly well for themselves.

No it's like not buying anything at the store, but trying something out at a try-out stand for a certain product.

That's not true. It is like duplicating an apple at the store so that someone else can still by the original product. Then if you like the duplicated apple you go back and buy an unduplicated apple.
piracy ≠ theft

a try out stand doesnt give out a whole product. that business would go down fast. and its not really a try out stand, because OTHER PEOPLE COPY PASTE ANOTHER BUSINESSES PRODUCT WITHOUT CONSENT. if you already have a game, music, or whatever, your not obligated to buy it. you have the finished product IN YOUR HANDS. the 2% that feel morally obligated to buy it after they steal it dont outweigh the people who just keep it.

You're stealing the content, not the container. Still theft. The artist is still not getting paid for the work that you are consuming.

but piracy doesn't equal theft, it equals copyright infringement. Theft involves tangible items being taken from one person, that person no longer having it, and someone who didn't earn it now retains ownership.
piracy while wrong by law and some extent morally - Is not theft. it's ignorant to assume the two are the same.

You know, it's one thing to pirate a game for your own usage (I don't care what your "justification" is), but to try and profit from something you don't own nor paid for? That's just ridiculous. I mean, if you think there's nothing wrong with making money like that, there's something wrong with you.
