DC Universe Online beta ends today with a big ol' fight

Saturday night certainly is alright for fighting, but DC Universe Online would rather you engage in battle today, ending the beta for DCUO with an event: "Battle of the Legends." Players can either align with good or evil and battle alongside the likes of Joker, Batman, Superman, and Lex Luthor -- a full list of the battles can be found after the break.

We'd suggest hopping on the PC version around 5PM PST and joining up with Future Batman (as piloted by famed comic artist Jim Lee) to take down evil, or if you're feeling more edgy, the PS3 version around 7PM PST to join Lee as Future Joker in creating chaos. If you miss the whole event, well, the game officially launches next week, so no biggie. That said, if you're really sore about missing it, the full play-by-play will be broadcast via DCUO's Facebook page. "Like" away!

DC Universe™ Online Battle of the Legends

In recognition of our beta community's great support and feedback and celebration of our impending 1/11/11 launch, SOE will be closing the DCUO beta on Wednesday, January 5 with a cataclysmic beta ending event, "Battle of the Legends."

Based on the events revealed this summer in our "Who Do You Trust?" cinematic trailer, Beta players can align and fight alongside or against some of DC Comics' most legendary heroes and villains, including Batman, Superman, Lex Luthor and The Joker. Join us and take this last shot at creating your legacy! Become part of this epic conflict when it erupts on your server.

If for some reason you're unable to attend, don't worry - we'll be updating you on the status of the battles on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/DCUniverseOnline. And to sweeten the pot, some "legendary" guests of our own joining in on the fun, playing as the iconic characters:
On Wednesday, January 5th, at 6PM PT fight alongside comics legend Jim Lee aka "Future Batman" as he takes on IGN's Nick "Guyman McMonocle" Kolan and his league of villains in Gotham Botanical Gardens! (PC players only)
At 7PM on Wednesday, January 5th, Jim Lee will defend humanity as "Future Batman" in the Botanical Gardens against the evil duo of IGN Editors Greg "Blue Business" Miler and Hilary "The Temp" Goldstein! PS3 beta gamers can jump in and assist the Dark Knight, or help IGN rain evil down on the universe!

no, wolverine and deadpool are NOT DC Characters they are Marvel Characters

Great, now you have me wanting to go through my old boxes to dig out the Marvel vs DC series. I thought it was the most amazing thing ever, but in all honestly, it was pretty dumb. I'm still upset at Storm taking out Wonder Woman. As if.

Don't know that I'll buy it, but the beta's been a lot of fun. Even if it doesn't get too huge, it definitely gives you a starting point on the 'mmos with not mmo combat'. Also it kind of beat TOR to the fully voiced MMO thing.

The Show Down Of Epic Proportions

this will mark the first time i've booted up my PS3 since LBP1's release week. I'm looking forward to at least a few months of this.

I do have a backlog of PS3 games to play - The 360 just always seemed to win when I had time to play between finishing university degrees. I still love Sony, I just need to catch up.

I hated Infamous and I couldn't get into Killzone. I know I NEED to play Uncharted 1 and 2 - just never got around to it.

Wait so the PC and PS3 versions aren't connected to each other?
That seems kinda dumb, why not expand the userbase.
Besides if it's a PVP reason can't the PS3 use mouse and keyboard?

Actually i was wondering about if the ps3 could use the keybaord and mouse in this game aswell, would make an mmo a heck of alot easier

This game is surprisingly better with a gamepad. I've been playing the PC beta and it actually does have an 'action' playstyle to it.

Wow, I really wish the last patch didn't screw up my copy of the beta! I planned on uninstalling and reinstalling tonight, but since the initial install took about 2-4 hours looks like i won't have time to really do that.

Oh well, only 1 week til the game drops anyway- gives me time to finish AC: Brotherhood, and start/finish Black Ops before my life gets taken over with some DC goodness!

I just finally got around to downloading the beta on my PS3 last night, and now it's ending! Just my luck, hah.

Will there be a Joystiq League?

@Bubbameister33 Now that would be awesome, to bad I won't $15 a month to play it though.

@Guts Free is a bit to much for an MMO, had it been just $5 I would have joined for sure without a doubt. $15 is to much considering all the great games coming out, not to mention all the 1st party exclusives that don't charge a monthly fee.
