Just because you're the best game of the year, doesn't mean everyone wants to play you. Most gamers would rather shoot each other in the face online then sit around and play with female characters and talk all the time.

Actually it does mean people want to play the game when its named by multiple sites as game of the year. I think most gamers would rather play something innovative and something special like mass effect 2 rather than playing a generic shooter.

im with trickybuz93... people dont rent mass effect 2, people buy it.

@Miami Prodigy Most of those people played it around launch, so not many people had it on their lists after that compared to the games that came out later in the year.

Then explain why it sold less than BlkOps and RRD, yet these two games sit on top!

@eescala7 Games without on-line multiplayer sell less because you can resell them when you finish the game and not miss much. That means that a single copy from the publisher is probably use a couple of times and still have the same effect. CODs, Halos, and MOHs sell more because you need the disc to play on-line. Add to that ME2 was essentially platform specific for the majority of the year and the numbers would be small compared to the huge multi-platform, multi-player blockbusters you're talking about.

Honestly, who rents a pokemon game? I usually invest hundreds of hours into them!

true, pokemon is definitely NOT a game that's suited for rental. i think in the original silver version, between all my playthroughs, i did well over 400 hours, and that's a conservative estimate. god of war, i can understand. not pokemon.

@Sly C Or maybe people rent it because they need to catch the Pokemon they don't get in Heart Gold :P

@Sly C What if the people who rented SoulSilver owned Heart Gold (and vice-versa) and just wanted the exclusive Pokémon for a cheaper price? O.o

You're really missing out. It's the kind of game where teamwork actually means something.

It's surprising how a well organized squad of four can take on an army of uncommunicated mutes.

Yeah, even though it did piss me off you should see what happens when you and 3 of your friends are communicating together. You can obliterate the other team.

............... what? I always get the games I want on launch day from them.

You do understand how the Q works right? First come first serve? I set all my titles in my Q at the least a month or two in advance. I have my whole year planned out every year. Constant flow of every new release (that I am on the fence about purchasing).

As long as that crappy Black Ops isn't first in place of a real game like Red Dead, I'm set.
As for Pokemon, I never really saw it as a rentable game o_O, definitely an all or nothing affair to me
