Awesome, now can you please find a way to print out a legible F@$#! pre-order code on your receipts please.

Why should they? It would help us out, which means it isn't cost-effective on their end.
It's a lot easier to print the receipts using cheap, smear-able ink on smooth receipt paper in the worst font possible. That way, when you store the receipt either in your wallet, pants, or perhaps even the Gamestop bags; they can be illegible later. Try it yourself. Hell, put one in your pants pocket and throw it in the dryer. The tie-dye resembling "artwork" it becomes is wild.

i too want gamestop to die a horrible death by burning in a fiery blaze of justice. their business practices are devious, their customer service is terrible, and their stores smell like gross little kids. their business practices remind me of blockbuster, and we all know how that is turning out. while these earnings don't make it seem like it'll happen, i still hope gamestop suffers the same fate of bankruptcy.

Expect a "buy two get one free" promo soon, then.

And maybe if the execs need a(-another) new car, instant $20 trade-in value on all newly released games.

Gives them the power to endlessly complain about them through gaming sites like Joystiq.

Why are so many people still giving those crooks business?

Amazon, Target clearance, Kmart (their stores are complete shit, as well as customer service, but at least they offer great deals)...all better options.

Don't forget that for used games, buying/selling/trading with eBay, Goozex or among your friends usually pays out far better than using Gamestop.

Why People Buy From GameStop:
* they are unaware of better choices such as Amazon
* they do not own a computer to use said better choices
(yes, those people do exist)
* convenience
* used game sales
* CONVENIENCE (you can buy socks AND games...in one day!)

Half of that is probably from uninformed consumers buying their rip-off used stuff. I saw a lady buy a used white 360 without a harddrive for $120 for her nephew. During boxing day (Canada's Black Friday), Best Buy was selling new 4 gig 360 Slims for 130. The poor nephew would have to spend another 50 bucks at least on a mere 60 gig hard drive to even save a game!

@gypsygib

Do you really think any of the original 360 without the built in flash memory are really still available on the used market? I'd say the chance that most of them haven't red ringed yet are pretty slim.

I don't know how many times I've said this, but I'll say it again.

Check deal sites like CAG before you buy, and buy/sell/trade your used games on eBay, Goozex and locally with your friends. It saves you a ton of money.

@Courtney

Except you spend time to save the money.

Time is money.

Some people will spend 3 hours a day on CAG to save themselves 20 bucks on a videogame purchase. I'm not that kind of person.

Ah, I'm a huge advocate that time is our most valuable resource, and agree that there can be a fair trade off for saving time by spending more. But I don't think that's the case very often with paying reasonable prices for video games. Taking 2 minutes to check CAG or Slickdeals before you buy a game isn't wasting a ton of time, and if you can order a game cheaper online then driving to your local GS, then you've in fact saved time.

I wonder how much Kotick raked in over the holidays. I have no doubt in my mind Activision made a ton of money off of Black Ops and others… http://stars.ign.com/objects/142/14216734.html

I'll keep getting games cheaper at Amazon. Also they offer better incentives to pre-order. A $20 coupon, vs an in-game hat - is a no brainer.

Why do people shop at GameStop anyway?

Amazon is the way to go. You get credits for future games, plus your DLC hat or whatever.

Yeah, I bought Black Ops at Gamestop though. Fookin consumers.

Not surprising when they shove unnecessary crap down your throat to buy. As a side note, anyone else immediately recognize the picture from the Super Mario cartoon?

I remember going to Gamestop and seeing Hot Pursuit for $49.99 during their Power Saver Sale they were having a few weeks back. Then I saw that Best Buy was selling the game for $44, so I checked my Reward Zone account and saw I had two $5 coupons waiting for me. Printed them out and only paid $37 for Hot Pursuit, saving me $12 as if I were buy it from Gamestop. Also Target had the game for $39.99 as well so that was another option. I will admit the only time I will shop at Gamestop is when they have sales like getting Spiderman Shattered Dimension for $40 a few months back or their buy 2 get one free on used games. I gotten really cheap games from them whenever they do these sales.
