While Sony continues to play coy about the existence of the PlayStation Phone – going so far as to toss away a perfectly good opportunity to unveil it during last night's CES press conference – they can't seem to keep it under wraps on this here internet. Chinese website IT168 has somehow managed to lay its hands on specs of the infamous handset along with a rather impressive four videos. Remember: This product isn't even official and its gotten more airtime than most independent presidential candidates.
Inside the PSP Go-esque device (see a side-by-side above!) is a Qualcomm Adreno 205 GPU, a "likely" 1GHz Snapdragon QSD8255 CPU, a 1,500 mAh battery, a 854x480 resolution 4" display, a 5 megapixel camera, 512MB RAM, 512MB ROM, a microSD slot, SIM slot, micro-USB connectivity, and more. The phone is packing a "PlayStation Pocket" app, though it's not clear what games it will support. Is the PlayStation Phone a PSone phone, leveraging the software emulator written for PSP and PS3, or will it run PSP1 games? While Sony continues to do the world's worst job of keeping a lid on things, we'll keep guessing at the ultimate feature set of the PlayStation Phone. Bounce on over to Engadget for vids and specs on Sony's big secret.
PlayStation Phone images and vids leaked (yeah, again!); 'PlayStation Pocket' app makes an appearance

Man, I can't wait for this phone. I've been living off the grid for too long.

I kind of doubt it. After the mistake that was the PSPgo, I'm sure they wouldn't charge too much for the phone. I'm guessing $200 at most.

T-Mobile uses SIM cards too but I highly doubt it will come to there. Sony Ericsson Xperia phones are exclusive with AT&T so this will be more than likely be no different. It really sucks since AT&T is really far behind in terms of speeds & service quality.

High-end phones are typically over $500 unlocked.
On contract, they tend to be priced in the $150-200 range. On rare occasions there is a phone that is $250, but no more than that.

I agree, Snapdragon is the last processor to choose if you are making a dedicated gaming phone.

I think Sony would have a bigger impact with this if they had made a PSP with a phone on it (with the ability to be on any network with a contract) than a phone with PSP on it. Fans would have trusted it more.

If the prominent thing on the device is a PSP with all the basic functions, they can only add to it. 2 analog sticks, full PSN connectivity, as well as adding phone qualities like 3G/4G speeds, talk & text (via touch screen) & many other things. The fact that it's a phone first & foremost means that the PSP integration will be an afterthought only having some abilities of the PSP. The main reason why people are so interested in this phone is because they have always wanted a PSP & A phone all in one. If you take out what makes a PSP a PSP like for one the XMB menu screen then they're defeating the whole purpose of putting them both together. Putting the functions of a PSP & A phone in one. Not just a phone with some PSP functions.

I think this device is mainly for Japan and possibly European countries.
It might do well in The US but many people there prefer the iphone it seems. If it is highly subsidized in the US (meaning free with a 2 or more year contract) it could do very well. I have an old psp 1000 that has been used so much the old battery had to be replaced last month. The point of that sentence is to say I don't need this device, but I can see how others would enjoy it.
I see this as a phone that will be upgraded every year with new form factors and hardware. The only similar thing will be that next years Psphone will still play psx and psp games. Nothing different from what Apple and other companies are doing now. I'm not sure how Japanese phone contracts are constructed, but with the amount of gadgets they buy every year it could be a success for Sony there. It seems every iteration of ds and psp sell very well, so a phone that is constantly upgraded and still has buttons specific for games could do well in Japan maybe elsewhere.
I guess the only question that I've not seen an answer to is will Sony and other developers make games that take advantage of the higher system specs. Something besides puzzle games and Angry Birds that take advantage of the control pad and not just the touch screen. Not that those are bad (I love Chuzzle) but higher end psp games. I might be interested if that's the case.

They are seriously going to need to sync save games soon in a cloud environment if you want to. I own 2 ps3, a psp go, and that is a pain in the rear to play psx games on from one to the other when it comes to save games. Even one ps3 to the other is a great annoyance. I hate usb sticks. Xbox is slightly worse in some ways for this with the whole profile moving. I also own 2 xboxes. Also they need to fix the 5 per an account limit. I would be at 4 if I bought the phone, or 5 if I bought my wife one also. Technically I am at 5, I need to get the broken ps3 off the account., unless if sony did that already when I sent it in.

You know, at first I was kind of meh towards the idea of the PSPhone, but if it runs Android like its been rumored to, then this could possibly mean that a phone will have access to the Android Market and the Playstation Network at the same time. Throw in the fact that you'll likely be able to run emulators on it as well, and you could be looking at a beast of a gaming/multimedia smartphone. It could be a very rich man's NGage.
Let's hope they don't gimp it when they finally announce it by saying something like "it only does PS1 games" or "it only does PS Minis." Give us full access to the PSP digital library, actually support it this time, and you could have a potentially kick ass phone that lets you play games with ACTUAL BUTTONS *shock and awe*.
Lastly, let's see what the hell is going on with that touchpad up in the front there. Fake dual analogs? Why not just go with the sliders here?

Maybe it's just a coincidence, but I noticed that the PSN download links for downloading via proxy to your PC instead of PS3/PSP start with "zeus." Could this have something to do with the Playstation Phone? Although it's hard to imagine why PS3 demos would relate to a phone.
By the way, hurry up and announce this already, Sony.

Regarding the people interested in the possibility of emulators for this system:
It's basically always been my experience that emulators simply don't play nice with most systems. The weird thing is, after all these years, computers still run emulators the best -- I know cell phones are getting to the point where they can stand nearly toe-to-toe with certain computers, but I wouldn't hold my breath unless you want choppy sound and lots of slowdown.

I really want one - but the clincher will be PSN support. If it actually supports all PSP-compatible games on PSN, then I'm sold. Class of Heroes, the Disgaea games, Valkyria Chronicles 2, Dissidia, a buttload of PSOne games AND whatever Minis are actually worth playing... Just imagining a phone that can do all of that has me ready to sign up for a contract!
But I'm getting worried that it won't be able to play more than the Minis, a few PSOne games and some very basic PSP games.

Alternatively: it'll have lame, gimmicky "touch" games akin to the early DS games before developers realized they could ignore the whole purpose of the system and make games that didn't use the touch screen.
