Am I the only one that played through the majority of Origins controlling the Mabari War Hound instead of the main character? I'd imagine most people didn't even include the hound in the party.

i absolutely did. I even got the mod that let you always have the dog in the party as a 5th member so i would never have to leave it behind ever.

Lol. That's an interesting way to play the game! Sadly, I rarely used him, mainly because he couldn't hold as much in inventory as a person (prior to playing Warden's Keep).

I personally thought he was a terrible party member.

In fact, anything but a mage was pretty terrible. I played as a mage, with morrigan as dps, shale as tank, and leinina as lock-opener

Actually the Mabari War Hound was one of the better tanks in the game. Not only that but any decision you made didn't affect his feelings toward the main character. Which helped when I did my 'evil' run through.

In Origins, the game "pushes" you to play a Mage. In Awakening, it pushes you to pick a 2H weapon using Warrior (which becomes downright godly once you get the quested legendary sword whose name I can't remember off hand).

I dunno. It's not just restricted to them. All sorts of jerks are doing this crap, segregating content to being exclusive at certain retailers. It's really God damned irritating. Especially when different retailers have different exclusives.

@Demaar EA's the one who perpetuates it.

Why can't they simply include all those stuff into the game already?

I'll probably wait till a Ultimate Edition before buying it.

They want you to buy it, and buy it brand new. Hence the "bonuses", which in fact are fragments of a full game that are stripped to devaluate used copies.

Is Joystiq really not gonna write about how DA2 is suddenly available for preorder on Steam ONE DAY after the cutoff for Signature Edition? That's some really shady crap from EA. And now Bioware is pretending it's all just a gigantic coincidence, as if anyone is stupid enough to believe that.

It's getting really hard to be a Bioware fanboy these days.

Good. Teach you for using a shitty system like steam.

Agreed, I love the customer Reps in Bioware's forums trying to say that it just "happened" to finish negotiations a day after signature edition. As if Steam would have ANY complaints about selling the Special edition, on Steams side of the table they only lost money by not offering it, because fans DID go to other sources simply on the basis of not having signature edition available.

I can accept not offering it since it is a big potential money loss for bioware (every SI sold meant they wouldn't buy the first few DLCs). But at least have the slightest backbone and say "Yea, we did the math and decided not to" and don't try to feed BS like some part of the steam system wasn't ready for it despite steam having obscure games available for preorder half a year in advance.

Pre-Order DLC, DLC created before a game releases, the $10 Down Payment, and store-exclusive pre-order DLC are some of the worst things about games right now.

You guys call Activision greedy.

What $10 down payment? Buy the game new and you don't pay anything.

As for pre-order exclusive content, that has been around for a very long time.

You know the biggest issue I had with the DLC in Dragon Age was the fact that it got you interested in the quest and then hit you with the fact it was DLC and not a main part of the game. I call it sucker punch advertising and left me with a very sour, and bloody, taste in my mouth. I did not buy any DLC for that game and would not have bought the game itself if i knew that were coming.

I can't wait to see what they do with DA2. If it's Fantasy ME2, I'm down, if it's like the original, I'm still down.
