Sometimes I'm curious about worldwide commerce. That's really the only relevant one, since money is money, even if it comes from Asia or Europe or South America.

I guess it's harder to get that info, and the 360's success in this particular market is still interesting and newsworthy, but I'd love to learn more about the actual state of these consoles.

Yeah, and NPD doesn't even cover U.S. online retailers like Amazon.

Thats where I buy most of my games so every time I see NPD numbers I feel left out :'-(

...and I'm reminded of the emptiness in my heart.

To belooooooooonnnggg.... (cue swelling Disney music)

@Dustin F I am sure there are individual reports on each region. The NPD real numbers are subscription based so sites dont report on what they dont have. Most of what we get is a watered down version they hand to bloggers who get it from other sites. Analyst and the companies involved hold a truer picture.

Too bad there isn't a Billboard type comprehensive magazine for games.

But the NPD can certainly be argued as the most relevant. It is the most wealthy nation who spends the highest percentage on leisure (i think thats right...maybe Monaco is higher lol). It is a good indication of where industry trends are heading.

My only memory of you is that you're a troll and a 360 fanboy. You don't care about the news, you care about the silly horserace.

Get lost.

VGChartz.com offers a good best guess at where things are. The charts on the main page can be clicked on for the specific region.

Take the numbers, especially the weekly tracking numbers, with a grain of salt. They can be significantly off until the official weekly (Japan) or monthly (UK/North America) numbers come in.

@Dustin F Your personal anger towards these numbers would say the opposite is true. I am sure we can find some international sales numbers in a far off region that will satisfy whatever goal you are looking to achieve. Maybe Spain should be a monthly report on blogs? They seem important and relevant.

Yeah, I'm confused as well.
I don't see Kinect sports in the list... which certainly seems to contradict "launching Kinect Sports into the top 10 for the month".

What gives, great 'stiq?

Can't say I am Kinect's biggest fan, but its good to see them stumping people who were negative about it.

A couple good games on their this month, pleased to see Donkey Kong on their. I highly doubt Cataclysm is only #3, the NPD does not take into account for direct download sales do they?

Very happy to see Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit still in the top 10. Love the game & Criterion deserves all the success in the world.

I think because of kinect's marketing. It is a hell of a lot of fun, but I think I read somewhere that it being on Oprah made preorders jump by some ungodly high number the next day,

@Synner Marketing: is there anything it can't do? :).

I got my Kinect for only $20, so I'm very happy with it, but I'd have been disappointed at $150.

Still, it really does feel more "next gen" as compared to Move, which is just more of the same, now with more accurate waggle.

I'm going with jagged rocks.

Sir or madam dfdshfkhfd, do your jagged rocks come in sets of 10 or 20 or do I need to buy them individually. I am looking for a price cut for buying in bulk. You can never have too many jagged rocks - thats what I always say.

@Rockefellow pretty sure GT5 sold 5.5 million worldwide in about a month or so after release. Not exactly comparable to NFS in the US in December.

Also happy to see Donkey Kong still there. Maybe some of those casual Wii owners do buy other games.

@Crayola Q Pants ESQ quite a bit would have to go into R&D costs though. But still I am sure they made their money back in spades.

Win7 doesnt have nearly the scorn that Vista earned I wouldnt be surprised if MS is doing well across the board. Except for Zune. Always with the Zune...

@ImpurestCrowd Sony's numbers were reported officially from NPD. They sold just over 1.2m PS3s.

For some reason, the PSP and PS2 numbers are not released.

Next up in the series:
DKCR2: Diddy's Waggle Quest (Wii)
DKCR3: Dixie's Triple Nipple (Wii)
DKC Fantasy (Wii HD)
DKC Galaxy (Wii 3D)
DKC Universe (Wii Cloud/onLive)
