This seems like a pyramid scheme. "Get you friends and we'll give you benefits" and they will get their friends and so on. A big pyramid scheme with Microsoft sitting on top, lol

You've never heard of a referral program before? Everyone has them. Gamefly, Directv, and on and on.

Hopefully this will work better than the Xbox Live Rewards program.

Has anyone actually received points from that yet? The actions I actually received credit for (surveys = yes, Netflix activation = no) all have their points as "pending".

@Prox

I got my points from the Summer of Arcade deal sooner than I anticipated, actually. No problems for me. I'm not sure about the surveys or Netflix activation ones though. I think it states somewhere that it takes approximately 6 weeks for your account to be credited with the points.

@Prox My points (only thing I qualified for was the surveys) are still pending too.

@Prox

From the terms and conditions on the Rewards site.

4. It will take up to 96 hours after Enrollees perform point earning activities for their corresponding Microsoft Points to appear in the Enrollee’s Account as "pending". An Enrollee needs 100 or more "pending" Microsoft Points before the Microsoft Points will be converted to "awarded". Once an Enrollee has 100 or more "pending" Microsoft Points, it will take up to 45 days for such Microsoft Points to appear in the Enrollee's Account as "awarded". Sponsor reserves the right in its sole discretion to award Microsoft Points at a later date if additional time is needed for any reason. Microsoft Points in an Enrollee's Account as "pending" cannot be redeemed until they appear in the Account as "awarded".

@Prox You need to earn 100 MS points before they're credited to your account.

Works fine for me.

Good info on needing 100 points before they're deposited.

Did anyone get their points for activating Netflix?

I love the rewards program, I've gotten hundreds of points through that over the last year or 2 (However long they had it overall, they keep starting it over for some reason).

What's the best way to tell which of your friends have a Gold account or not? I was surprised that refer a friend page didn't tell me.

Look at their gamercard. If its a silver lining, they are silver. Gold lining means they are gold.

What if you don't have friends.

Note: Not me, btw, I have at least two friends. One, of course, being my mom.

anybody else get the feeling they must be losing gold subscribers? the price went up sure but it's been on sale ever since and this looks like a desperation move to me. why wouldn't they announce how many gold users they have for a while now unless it was declining? i canceled mine over a year ago after 5+ years and don't miss it at all, you can still do plenty with the free membership.

@sticks I get the feeling, because they lost me. The price going up was nothing compared to losing og Xbox LIVE support, which has been compounded by not seeing the benefits that was supposed to offer with new features.

If anyone on my friends list sends me a referral offer, they're gone. Thankfully, my friends list is actually comprised of friends and not casual internet acquaintances I played with once in that riveting game of Culdcept Saga.

@sticks They lost me yesterday, lol. Been on live for 4 years and have watched it change into an overpriced advertising slum designed to wow and zazz fat, foul-mouthed children into thinking they're part of some social setting.

So, been silver for 10 hours now after 4 years of gold, and not missing it one bit. Live is nothing but a drag now, all of my friends only play two games, Black Ops which is complete casual kid trash, Reach, which is better but I just can't keep playing it for months on end like some people... I'm into SP games now and I'm pretty sure that's where I'll stay until the spring influx of new MP games to try.

@Bumblemuk Well they'll lose me this coming December. Sure its still ways away since I got a bunch of cards for $24 a while back, but I'll be leaving none the less. With the exception of Halo, and Gears there's nothing I can't play online for free on my PS3.
Sorry MS but I gave my $50 to PSN for (+) and so far I've gotten to play a lot of good games that I would have missed out on. You want me back, you better start letting me play games for free cause paying for the ability to play MY games that I paid $60 won't do.

That's seems pretty stupid. You think "true" friends wouldn't try and score some extra goodies?

I don't see how offer incentives to recommend XBL to friends with and without xboxs to sign up for XBL Gold.

I'm rightfully skeptical about this.

I did nearly every offer on the Xbox Live Rewards page and haven't been awarded a single point yet. Some of the offers I completed never even showed up as "Pending", so it's as if I never did them.
