Its a shame to see such low sales (.4m for 360, highest) for Rock Band 3, after Beatles Rock Band blew up (over 2.0m). Now that Harmonix is on their own, I hope they can get back on track and start buying up some more high priced DLC licenses.

@Magnalon
I actually thought the period before the 4 was a spec of dust on my screen.
After I went to brush it off and see that it wasn't, I got a little sad.

@Magnalon that is sad...I suppose it shows the saturation has hit. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact there was no real major bundle for the game? You'd think it would be the opposite.

I love Harmonix. I really hope they can stay afloat with the decline of music sales. They're a great dev and are stationed near my house. Yay for local devs.

people are just tired of the same ole music controller games. I know i dont play nearly as often anymore. I tried RB3 and didnt see a big difference in RB2 other than different visuals behind the keys and more instruments. Sorry to say im not going to put more money into it...just how it is.

@ChaseHammerJ which is why they added the ability to plug in real instruments and they added a keyboard.

Your point has none.

I think everyone secretly wants to, but the second part may be true.

You must have only played it for about ten minutes, since they actually did pack the disc with tons of new features and fixed everything that was wrong with RB2(and a few things that you didn't know was wrong).

Honestly this was bound to happen thanks to guitar hero.

@bxgt - I'm not sure I understand how Guitar Hero in any way, shape or form has an effect on Harmonix moving their Rock Band Network Support to RB3 to support Keys and Harmonies.

NP. Guitar Hero also sold like poop (.42m, highest console) - they even dropped all their prices across the board for the series last week.

@Magnalon Not to mention the series is literally complete garbage after the last iteration. I've not cared about the series since RB debuted.

This announcement killed much of my enthusiasm for the music genre:
http://www.rockband.com/forums/showthread.php?t=201785

No RB3 bundle for PS3 in North America, Europe unaffected, due to 'agreement terms'. Sounds like an exclusivity deal. Are people supposed to switch consoles and grab a 2nd complete set of plastic instruments? I could have bought the game and the keyboard separately (I saw 1 single keyboard since release, while xmas shopping) but decided 'screw it' instead. I've hardly touched RB2 and haven't bothered looking at the weekly DLC since then. Meh. I was getting bored anyway, this sealed it.

so let me get this straight--they just made it MANDATORY for everyone with RockBand DLC to have a copy of RockBand 3? So I can no longer just play with RockBand 2 disc in my tray for all my songs I already bought? That is lame as hell. I planned on getting RB3 eventually, but I shouldn't HAVE to buy it just to play content I already bought.

@ummhello

Not exactly. Only DLC released AFTER RB3 was launched requires you to have RB3 to play. Any DLC you already have is still playable with RB2. So basically everything up to the Doors DLC pack and beyond will be playable in RB2.
