Still not enough to get me to remotely want to take any HDD space up with Home. Although I am psyched for KZ3.

@twistedfloyd Home isn't even present in my region. BS incomplete experience, no DLC, no RockBand songs, nothing. Waste of money.

Hearing all that negativity, I wonder what happened to all the people who used to be defending Home on here? Making you out to be an idiot for bashing their awesome virtual reality that had apparently evolved so much since launch.

My interest in home is mediocre, the reason I bother with it is because of the few GOOD spaces and the friends I've made on it. There is and was a lot of potential for Home if it was in fact a Wow tyoe experience, lots of places to visit, lots of humour, lots of wacky missions to do to get some trophies, for home and for games too in the form of home spaces.

I think developers would also be more keen if they saw what else was possible, what about live streams in spaces of game tournaments? That would be cool, Killzone multiplayer tounaments streamed right to the Killzone space. There is lots that can be done, but it seems that like someone said, some of these spaces are just 3D advertisements rather then actual spaces :(

I'm think 3Realms for PS3 will push Home aside, because at least 3Realms is fun :P

Which would be simultaneously hilarious and awesome.

Honestly, is Home worthwhile? I have never touched since I've had my PS3. I know it gets shit on all over the place and is always being mocked, but for the people that have given it a shot and checked it out, should I do the same or is it actually a waste of space and time?

There are a few interesting bits here and there, but more than just a bit of it is crap, a lot of pretty much empty rooms.

The Siren space is neat, Bowling Alley is worth it, there's an Atari style arcade game in the Uncharted space, there's some interesting stuff in the Xi museum or whatever and some decent content in the Assassin's Creed space and the Buzz space isn't half bad. Most spaces have a minigame, but some are much better than others, and some spaces are simply stores to sell you crap for your avatar (lame).

There just needs to be more to do, more events and a lot more reasons to go there.

@Uncle Jesse - I used it to watch the first season of the Tester since they were streaming it there instead of me having to wait forever for the episodes to download from PSN but outside of that, no it wasn't really worthwhile and one could argue that didn't exactly make it worthwhile either since that show was dreadful.

I wouldn't use it every day, but sodium 1 is good and trialing the mini-games is fun, load times have gotten much better since launch and most of it has gotten an overhaul.

For people who peruse this site, I would say no, but for people who enjoyed Second Life, I would say yes. I pop in about once a month to see what's going on and the new changes. It's pretty freakin big now with all the spaces and it is usually quite busy. Again, not for everyone and as you can tell, most people on this site hate it but we are not the demographic that leans towards this type of world.

LOL:
"an exclusive jet-pack "costume" for your avatar (are you really asking -- not a chance it actually works!)"

But yeah, Home is a joke. Really not much reason to go there, unless you're a screeching adolescent. It takes an insane eternity to load Home, and the stuff to "do" there is pretty boring and pointless

Best thing ever is the parody of Home in the movie "Gamer":

NWS:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9HImC_oJeoE

Morons acting like idiots dressed in ridiculous outfits no one would ever really wear in public.

#1 You'd have to watch to movie to get the full grasp. But it's totally a home parody. Basically people log in, and take full mind control of these living human avatars and just walk them around doing moronic stuff like this, dressed like clubkid crackwhores. One really bizarre moment, some idiot avatar person gets hit by a scooter car or something, and is seriously hurt, and all the other avatars turn and laugh at this guy, and he starts laughing at his own injuries. (Because the user in control isn't hurt, just the poor bastard avatar person)

#2 Yeah, I forced myself to watch it. Friend recommended it, but it's pretty much a big shit sandwich. Had a few entertaining moments. Honestly the Home parody was probably the best part of the whole thing. Rent it, fast forward past the terrible "action" and just watch the ridiculous Home parts. Side note - the guy who plays Dexter on Showtime is the main bad guy.

Yeah I dunno, seems kind of a mix of the two but yeah probably more raunchy like Second life, but the club gear and environments seem more like PS Home to me.

I seriously doubt Home had any influence over Gamer at all. Home wasn't even remotely known outside the gaming community (then and now) for those movie execs to note it IMO. I think its only Second Life and "Every Other Shooter" that made that movie, as terrible as it was.

This actually makes PS Home even less appealing to me. The point of Home, I thought, was to be a virtual version of reality, kind of like the Sims or something except you control one person, yourself, and its more grounded and less wacky, and the contents of your home would be sort of like a different, more interactive way of accessing your PS3 menu. The problem is in the execution. Home has nothing to offer, nothing to do. But completely changing the point of Home by turning it into a KZ3 styled world seems even more detrimental to the whole point of Home in the first place. I'll just steer clear of it, I forgot Home even existed until I read this lol

Another missed opportunity.

They should have kept Home as normal and then had random Helghast attacks that massacred the user population and leveled buildings. During attacks pockets of resistance fighters would spontaneously appear to fight them back. The only choice he users would have would be to run and hide.

If you got killed you couldn't go back to Home for a week and when you returned your fake house would be ransacked.

Erm, well considering children are using it and this is a central space, that wouldn't be a smart idea now would it -_- Or are you looking for Sony to get sued?

In the video on the PS Blog, it shows the jet-pack in home. It does hover off the ground as you move. But you still can not fly away.

Home can be enjoyable for a little bit but I do like that Sony is integrating their franchise games with it. It gives people more of a reason to go to it. The minigames are enjoyable for a little bit. It's more so of a place to go to unwind at the end of the night.
