That was a well crafted review!

I grabbed the game on Saturday somewhere that sold it early and was confused within only a few minutes of starting it up. Not much explanation of wtf was going on.

I took it out and decided I need to try again on a day where I could devote my full attention to it.

@Duke The story (at least at the beginning) seems very incomprehensible. It seems like it picks up from Two Worlds, but it's so out there and nothing is explained (at least not in the first hour or so of the game) and you're just some dude with a gravely voice and everyone loves you.

what a bizarre yet humorous review i am a little disappointed that they didn't learn that much from the first game though and there still major problems so it looks like i wont be picking this up but i will give them this at least there's some good in this game compared to the last one

Still going to buy it later this year. I love action rpgs and the first was indeed terrible, this one still looks like it is good. Just waiting for it show up on steam...if not I'll buy from D2D.

Justin, a great review that was fun to read. I've been hearing that two worlds II was better than the first game, but that doesn't really say much. Guess ill have to rent it and see if i can get into it. That crafting system sounds like a lot if fun.

Fantastic review, Justin. Very clever.

Do us a favor and re-visit this once the inevitable patche(s) drop?

I think I'll wait to pick this up. Maybe this summer once some of my backlog of games has been cleared out.

Surprised it got a 3 judging by how terrible the game is, even though it might have some good concepts.

Any more info on the co-op? Full campaign or relegated to a separate island like the first one? An Oblivion style game with co-op would be a dream come true...

Good review Justin.

Guess I'm the only one who didn't like the review format. It felt a lot like how the reviewer feels about the game: Hard to follow with no real rhyme or reason for making it that way in the first place.

Not a fan either, but at least it still seemed to cover everything. I just hope the seemingly overwhelming positive response doesn't mean more reviews will be written this way.

You guys honestly call this a review? Wow. Sorry but I expect more from a review when I read it. Like actual information about the game, and not 100% anecdotes. Color me not impressed.

Flame me if you will (and you will). This is just my opinion of this "review."

*ahem*

Combat/Gameplay:

"Now, don't get me wrong, I have my failings, my combat chief among them. Attacks almost always feel underpowered, hit detection seems almost random, there's no sense of weight behind attacks ... and that's just melee. Magic has its own problems, like how you're supposed to be able to use area-clearing spells when you get surrounded -- yet enemies attack so quickly you can almost never finish casting them."

UI/Presentation:

"You think that sounds bad, I haven't even gotten to my stunningly unintuitive UI. Get this: When you look at equipment statistics, things like 'Attack' and "Defense" are represented by inscrutable symbols that I never explain, not even in the instruction booklet! Luckily, I have an option to change those symbols to text buried in my Settings menu."

Graphics:

"I'd ... I'd rather not talk about it. What I can talk about is my almost endearing level of graphical weirdness, everything from levels very obviously loading around you as you stand frozen in place to a running animation that looks like a bad improv student instructed by his teacher to embody a constipated duck. Oh, and your scalp spends a lot of the cutscenes popping up through your hair texture and making it look like you have a tonsure."

Totally agree with you. I love how it says nothing about how the game feels, yet all of the posters were entertained by the review itself, so they praise it and downvote any resistance to it. The genius of the bandwagon.

Not new to the site. I just chose not to comment that often, namely due to comments like yours. I mean god forbid I have an opinion that differs from yours.

Also, it is not funny. It is annoying.

And still, color me not impressed. though in this instance it has more to do with the overall comments and not the "review" in question.

Are you seriously not getting the review? I must be missing something because Justin pretty much gave you everything (as I outlined above). Sure it's not in great detail but it's alarming clear that Two Worlds 2 does not differ much from its predecessor. In other words...

Read between the lines:

The game is severely flawed in several key areas.

Oh Meancode I completely understand, this review was so unhelpful, I just couldn't understand it at all, there was clearly nothing said about the game play, graphics, interface or replay-ability. We should both get together, have some tea to calm our nerves, and write an angry letter of complaint in to Joystiq.

Hahahahahahahaha~. Don't mess with the capn' either. Especially when you're so obviously wrong.

Don't pay any attention to them. They are obviously flaming you because they feel some sort of instinct to defend someone who in all probably doesn't really care about what they think. I am with you on this one. This review might be worse then the game he was attempting to review.

Note to everyone here: Criticizing a review is necessary. I am sure the reviewer meant no arm and just wanted to do something different but it doesn't mean it's necessarily a good thing.
