Bummer. I played when the rules came from the 4th Edition and the Ice Age and Mirage expansions were still new. With all of the new abilities and rules, its like a whole new (not necessarily better) game.

I believe hundreds of thousands of magic players would disagree with you. Memory has a way of making all of our experiences "used to be better when I did it".

You're probably right. I guess it's just the learning curve since I had been out of Magic for 10 years. I picked up this XBLA game and had a good time, but I cant seem to get around all of the new stuff in the modern game.

I have it on both PS3 and 360. Great game despite the bugs. Would of thought it sold more than that though.

@daevv Its huge when you consider all the people who started buying real cards because of this intro. Like me.

Great game, though they did a terrible job balancing this new Vampire deck. It beats everything except the mono red decks handily.

It is relatively unblanced, hard as hell to beat. I just used mind of void to deny him any chance to play something good.

I'd tap Elspeth... But my heart belongs to Naya Battlemage.
Now, what was the news about, again?

My only recollection of Magic: The Gathering was my best friend in 6th grade trying to teach me how to play the card game before class. I never quite understood it, but I did always enjoy the fine artwork on some of the cards.

I also remember a lot of hubbub (no spell check red underline? is that a real word?) about counterfeit cards going around. My friend had a card with a picture of someone's house cat on it.

I absolutely love this game. This, and Trials HD have so much of my time invested into them.

I've bought every expansion pack, and only wish they would have included the ability to customize your own deck, instead of adding or removing cards. Quite honestly, I'm surprised at the lack of support its gotten. I figured it would have just been dumped on the XBLA and forgotten. I'm glad they fixed that annoying online glitch awhile ago, where no one could do anything, and you'd have to wait for the time to expire. I hope they take this as a sign we want a sequel, but PLEASE allow custom decks.

Won't buy it until it has a deck builder, all cards, customized rulesets ... I mean apprentice, mtg workstation and some other non licensed programs already have that. It isn't too much to ask.

@C1 There's a licensed game that does all that. It's called Magic: Online. And it's free-ish to play (you still buy new cards with new money or via trading).

But the layout isn't as sexy as Duels of the Planeswalkers.

I believe they wanted to make this game accessible (note the 500k+ sales) - Obviously limiting this has worked for their success. You get a lot of people intimidated when you start off with such a flexible ruleset. If I just started and they expected me to craft a deck, it would suck, I'd lose a lot, so then tell my friends the game sucks since I have nothing but bad experiences with a "broken" game.

Besides, for being an XBLA game it's pretty fun. Not the end-all be-all for Magic games, but pretty good representation of the Magic experience.

I'm prety sure I picked this one up when it was on sale and truth be told, played it once then got distracted with something else. Might have to revisit it.
