Crytek discussing possibility of TimeSplitters 4, needs Crysis 2 shipped first
77
Our anticipation for Crysis 2 just skyrocketed for a terrible, terrible reason. See, in a recent interview with CVG, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli responded to a query about the possibility of a new entry in the TimeSplitters franchise by saying, "Yeah, we have been discussing it, but nothing has been confirmed yet, so let's see after Crysis 2." The developers of the chronologically unstable series, Free Radical, were purchased by Crytek back in 2009, and now have their hands full with developing Crysis 2's multiplayer component.
Don't get us wrong -- we're definitely looking forward to Crysis 2 based solely on its own merits as an innovative first-person shooter. But we also want a new TimeSplitters, and if that means we have to ship Crysis 2 before it's ready to free up resources, then, well, that's an egg we're willing to break.

I would rather play Timesplitters 4 than Crysis 2 :/
Timesplitter 2 and 3 were the best shooters I've ever played, Crysis was just the prettiest :/

It lives! This series was one of the best FPS I've ever played. Where else could you play as a 2 foot monkey with a flamethrower in multiplayer? Not to mention all the different challenges they had and of course, Anaconda's awesome music.
SHIP CRYSIS ALREADY!

Crytek won't be making TimeSplitters 4 until someone figures out how to shoehorn Cry into the title somehow.

But the multi-player isn't ready, judging by the demo... :(
Don't do this to me Joystiq, I need a good mulitplayer FPS to play until the next Battlefield(or TimeSplitters) comes out.

i had zero idea that TimeSplitters was this famous, i always thought it was an unknown shooter with a map editor. the only reason i bought it at the store was because it said it came with a map editor, i spend hours making levels and then playing the level with bots. i dont remember if it had a story or not but the map editor was the greatest thing to me at the time

Wait, just the POSSIBILITY?
What was the point of purchasing Free Radical if they weren't going to have them work on the game they were supposedly making?
I hope Crytek doesn't plan on using Free Radical as just a multiplayer touch-up studio from now on.

Have people really forgotten about Haze? Free Radical did a nice job with Timesplitters but their most recent game Haze was TERRIBLE. And from I'm hearing they ruined Crysis 2's multiplayer....I have no faith in them for any game until I actually play them..Don't hype this up until they prove themselves after the disaster that was Haze, they were shutting down for good reason until Crytek saved them.

Don't believe everything you hear. If you have a ps3 or 360 you may formulate your own opinion on the multiplayer, the demo is coming soon to PC as well. Haze lacked all the character and variety of the timesplitters games, but was far from a disaster. reviewer scores were lukewarm, but the average user score is 8.1 on gametrailers.

@Kougeru I don't think they ruined anything. The concepts an mechanics are there, and its beautiful. They just need to do something about the lag (maybe dedicated servers a la Battlefield, since EA is publishing?) and up the strafe speed a bit.
