Building Mario in Tetris is tougher than you may think

No, seriously, watch the video past the break and you'll agree with us. It took YouTube user Shuey187 over 90 minutes -- and, sadly, he never finished the hat.

I sat here for about a minute trying to think of a block-themed pun.

Boy, he really had to set aside a block of time for this one, huh?

@Extinction
Comparatively speaking, that "guitar" is rubbish.
The d-pad looks really unfinished. The paintwork is...meh.
That's not to say I could do a better job, I don't really think its Joystiq worthy.
This Mario looks like an actual 8-bit Mario.

@BigJayDogg3 Joystiq has covered this nes paul, http://www.joystiq.com/2010/12/09/guitar-made-out-of-an-nes-sounds-like-its-made-out-of-an-nes/ do you think that one was worthy?
Actually, the dpad on mine is the singular best dpad I've ever used.
Your comment was rubbish.

If South Koreans took up Tetris like they play Starcraft, we would have entire art exhibits of Tetris screenshots.

Who'd have ever thought that Mario was too many pixels.

I had this Idea even got the website address tetrisart dot com but sadly was never able to make enough good drawings in it to bother actually finishing the project.. maybe I should boot up tetris and get on it.

Oh for god's sake...
IT'S TETRIS, YOU'RE NOT SUPPOSED TO LEAVE BLOCKS INTENTIONALLY!
That is what Minecraft's for. Leaving blocks and making cute pixel art.

Hey David, thanks for the recognition! I'm honored :).
So many people have never even thought of Tetris in this way, so it's exciting to see more and more people being exposed to it, especially through well known sites like joystiq.
Thank you!

I wouldn't say that building a Mario in Tetris is tougher than I thought, because before seeing the video I would have thought that it was nearly impossible.

I'm sure your hat is within one of these blocks

That was downright insane. It hurt my brain to watch it. If I had a hat, it would be off to you Shuey (who I'm assuming is the creator of this).
