@Aussiemon Oddly enough, Notch owns a droid (HTC Desire Z if I remember right), and the Android system has some of the same code as Java(Google is in court against Oracle now I think), which is used in Minecraft. So droids probably get soon after.

Sounds like it'd be great for iPad. Not sure how the small iPhone screen will do. Guess we'll have to wait and see.

Well, 90% of gaming sites are spelling it the way Joystiq is... But there are still people doing it your way too. I smell a mystery!

@Colin It could still very well be Neiminen, but I was just thinking Nieminen would fit better since it's a Finnish name, and this is a Swedish creation xD Not surprised about most reporting it as Neiminen in any case, seeing as how Gamasutra said it's Neiminen.

@FearTheMuffin Mods do the sort of optimization you want, but Notch doesn't look at those sorts of things.

Someone released a Angry Birds clone (as clone as it gets really) on XB Indie Games called Fishcraft. You aim fish to knock down some animal. It made me giggle and sigh at the same time. Check it out for a pathetic laugh.

How about you finish the PC/Mac/Linux version first?

First they start work on a second game before they have Minecraft finished, now this? Sorry Mojang, but for an indie developer, you're really rushing things. I am a patient gamer, but you are testing my patience.

How the hell can the iOS handle the processing power MC requires? I assume it'll be dumbed down quite a bit... which isn't a huge deal, so I CAN'T F*CKING WAIT!!

Say goodbye to Java.
Java makes the PC one slow and they're too lazy to develop it in something better.

@VeeDeeVee As a software developer who has done work in Java and C++, I can confidently say the speed problems with Java are a myth. The same program written in Java and C++ will run about 50% slower in Java; however, a game like Minecraft could easily be developed to not be CPU-bound, so that difference is irrelevant. The problem is not the language, but the coding (until recently, it was developed by one person - one person couldn't possibly write a decent engine by themselves in so little time).

For example, having decent occlusion culling could easily double the game's FPS; and there is no reason decaying leaves should take up 90% of CPU time on a server.

Great... This just highlights how much my laptop sucks. I mean on the laptop im currently on it works but is laggy as hell and dies at random occasions just forceshutting the game.

On the other hand this is good news, knowing that this game may expand to different platforms... Say handheld platforms i've already preordered.... coming out in aroundabouts a month.... *HINT HINT* *winks*

In their exact words, they said it won't be a direct transition. "Just the aspects that make sense for a touch based device"

..I dunno what that means, but I hope they go all out with it.
