Rumor: New Command & Conquer site goes live, disappears
18
Electronic Arts apparently flipped the switch on a new Command and Conquer website today before intended, deciding shortly after that it wasn't too keen on sharing it with the world. Rock Paper Shotgun spotted the site, which announced the project is being developed by EA's newly dubbed Victory Games, a collaboration between three studios in Los Angeles, Texas and Shanghai.
Victory Games will apparently be headed by Jon Van Caneghem, an executive who "transitioned out" of his role as Trion World Networks president and chief creative officer in April of 2009. According to RPS, before the information was pulled, there was an "interview" with Caneghem on the site that noted the new title was for PC and that a formal announcement was coming later this year. We'll likely get more details when EA commands the web team to conquer the publish button.

Hopefully this means a new C&C game to wash out the flavor of the last game.I love the series all except Tiberian Twilight.

Honestly I wouldn't mind seeing a reboot or a new take on the series.
Civ:IV&V have taken most of my Strategy needs lately.

Yeah, I'm expecting kind of a reboot of the whole series. Although, after TT, it won't be a day-one purchase for me regardless. They're going to have to earn my business back.

C&C1 was my first RTS, way back. I loved all of them, both Tiberium and Red Alert series.... right up to C&C4. I'm in full agreement on this one: I won't be buying this one without a good recommendation from a friend, or a really good demo.
And yeah... nasty DRM could still sink even that >.>

C&C 4 was crap- From what I read EA didn't think the game was important so they cut the budget and fired several employees during the restructuring.
Just outsource the development to Petroglyph Games(company was formed by the last group of ex- Westwood Studios employees who resigned when Westwood Pacific was shut down by Electronic Arts in 2003- wikipedia)

You must excuse me but after that horrible abomination that was C&C4 and (to some extent) C&C3 I don't think I could ever enjoy another C&C game from EA.

C&C3 was good, what are you talking about? Kanes Wrath was probably one of the most enjoyable strategy games I've played in a minute.
As much as I love the C&C series, the latest one really shocked me, and I didn't even bother pirating it, that's how bad it was. At the end of day, no matter how good or bad it will turn out - I'll always come back running to SC2.

As long as it's not Generals 2.. I might look back into C&C again. General's is what started the downwards spiral that we see today.
