Series fans were thrilled by last year's Steam release of The Oddboxx, a four-game Oddworld collection, but many were left in the cold. "I don't live anywhere near a Steam store, how am I supposed to get a copy?" has been the common refrain. But worry no more, because as of March 7 the game will be available at D2D, Stardock, Amazon, GamersGate locations across the globe. Surely, you'll have at least one of those nearby?
As a bonus, those who venture to one of those stores will find Oddboxxes littered with 50%-off stickers; the game will be half-off its $25 asking price between March 7-14.

Are there any good reasons to use any of the listed providers RATHER than Steam? I'm just asking, I honestly don't know.
Steam seems pretty great from what I can tell.

Some people don't like STEAM because it's popular and it's KEWL to go against popular things.

I think more people were left in the cold when Stranger's Wrath ran like shit on every system, an 8-year old port on modern video cards, and the head of the company popped up and said he "didn't realize pc gamers were spoiled" to have framerates above 25. Which was normal for him because he was "used to console games."

Now many others can demand their money back for what is widely considered to be one of the worst port jobs done in a decade. (GREAT games but Just Add Water and Oddworld Inhabitants are terrible stewards of a wonderful IP)

Except now that they've patched it, it's just fine.

A Mac version would thrill me, but so would a lot of things that are never going to happen. Maybe the HD remakes will actually make it to XBLA? Any recent news about that?

Am I correct in thinking that the port job was bad? I recall many people complaining it running poorly and such.

The port was horrendous. They patched the game... and it still doesn't run. They suckered people into buying a game that was half off... and gave them just a pile of useless data. No wonder none of these game are on PSN or XBLA because they would never get approved... BECAUSE THEY ARE BROKEN.

Sad to hear about the state of the games. I still may consider getting the games on D2D come March 7th.
And Kudos for the great funny about not having a "Steam, Amazon or GamersGate store" nearby. ;-)
I hope there is no one out there visiting this site that does not get the joke. :-|
