Fate of DJ Hero dev FreeStyleGames still undecided
15
If you've had your fingers crossed that FreeStyleGames would make it through Activision's culling of around 500 jobs unscathed -- well, keep those digits twisted. The DJ Hero developer's creative director Jamie Jackson and commercial director Chris Lee announced this morning in a joint statement, "We continue positive discussions with Activision around possible routes for FreeStyleGames," adding, "We have not reached an agreement as of today, however we are in continued dialogue and hope to have more news soon."
The statement didn't include any other hints about how these dialogues are going, but did mention, "Messages from the industry and gamers alike have been warmly received and we are incredibly grateful for the support." Here's another for the pile: DJ Hero games are awesome, and we sincerely hope you get to keep making them.

DJ Hero is one of the few music games I actually care about. I think Activision would be really stupid to kill it off before it got to shine. If we get 800 CoD and GH games, at least give us more than 2 of this...

Completely agree, if activision gets rid of them and DJ hero my business is done with them. I've already stopped buying COD games and never bought the DLC for any of them. If they were to pull this I'd be done buying any activation game new or DLC For the used purchase.
If they even release anything I'd actually want to play now

"im done with them ...If they were to pull this I'd be done buying any activation game new or DLC For the used purchase. "
ohhh noooo not used game sales i bet they are going to listen to you now, you sure know how to stick it to the man.
some of you people are just plain sad. If they game dies then it just sucks for you and all those plastic toys they sold you. When DJ Hero came out i knew the game would not be out for long, its a game called D-J-HERO... OEMGEE its like Guitar Hero but with DJ STAWFF, how clever of a name, like Band Hero. Activision played you all for fools and took your money now you want to RAGEE because Activision pulled a Activision on you.
how does that saying go... "Fool me once..." you should have learned your lesson (around MW2 time) but you didn't. Plenty of people will still buy what ever Activision decides to exploit, and those people will be as dumb as you for falling for it again then raging after.

Having a go at someone simply because they enjoyed DJ Hero, just shows your small mindedness.
Why so serious? Take a break. Its not life or death, yet you reply as if it is.
Get over yourself and move on. g33k.

Considering how awesome DJ Hero 2 was, here's hoping FSG and DJ Hero survive.

Keep the messages coming then, folks! My contribution:
DJ Hero 1 + 2 kick ass, not to put too fine a point on it. You folks are clearly talented at and passionate about what you do. Keep the sweet games coming!

Just downloaded all the Dj hero 2 dlc today, figured the only way any of us could actually help in the smallest way is to do that.

....and about 10% of that DLC will actually get to the devs, most of it will go to Activision, some to Sony. Doofus :D
You just fed the man.

sounds like the bubble has burst on music games. While I can't say I've ever cared for them *TONS* of people do, demand clearly exists so I don't understand this rather heavy-handed move on the part of Activision with respect to it's music franchise devs. I find it hard to believe this is the same company we loved during the Atari 2600 days, what happened to them?

Unless they can figure out how to make DJ Call of Duty Hero, they're probably boned.

How awesome would it be if Harmonix bought the rights to the game and hired the employees of FreeStyleGames? Alas, that will never happen.
