Though we love the idea of anachronistic music in games, à la Red Dead Redemption's darkly folksy interlude, not going with a DragonForce track seems like ... a missed opportunity at best.
Florence + the Machine lends exclusive track to Dragon Age II

No, your ears aren't deceiving you, future Dragon Age II player. That is, in fact, Florence + The Machine, a modern band that sent a re-imagining of its song "I'm Not Calling You a Liar" back through the annals of history to appear in BioWare's upcoming action RPG. The new track, produced by composer Inon Zur, is titled "I'm Not Calling You a Liar (Dragon Age II: Varric's Theme)," but you can hear the non-Dragon Aged version after the break.
Though we love the idea of anachronistic music in games, à la Red Dead Redemption's darkly folksy interlude, not going with a DragonForce track seems like ... a missed opportunity at best.

It's especially egregious considering how open DF is about its gaming nerddom.
Frankly, it's a matter of time before they play Blizzcon or PAX or something.

Powerglove have got that covered. I believe they're playing at PAX East or something.
And frankly, they're a million times better than Studioforce.

It wouldn't be that hard. I've gotten a bunch of players together in Lord of the Rings Online and played a DragonForce song with lutes.

I appreciate you guys posting this because I was curious to why the song in the credits soundly oddly familiar. The whole thing is in the demo for Dragon Age II and it is hauntingly beautiful (so check it out).

Dragonforce is... not so good. Bet You Can't Play this on YouTube comes to mind every single time I think of them. Though I have to admit that Through the Fire and Flames would have been a hilarious little joke if it played at some sort of point during maybe a side quest or something.

This isn't very good at all.
Thankfully I have my own progrock playlist that has been cultivated with neverending RPGs in mind; Camel, Genesis, Marillion, King Crimson, ELP, Caravan, Gentle Giant etc etc

I was surprised that Florence & The Machine didn't use their "Dog Days Are Over" for Kane & Lynch: Dog Days.
I mean it's right there. But no.....gotta put in a Julia Roberts movie that no one will remember.

That album is awesome and you should listen to it. Have a nice day.

@darkinchworm That album is over-produced and I guess you should still listen to it, but don't pay much. Continue having a nice day.

Lungs is easily one of my favorite albums in the past couple of years, and Rabbit Heart will be a part of regular rotation for a long time.

Its very very similar, the first change I saw was its some more hack slash than DA:O which is a little more strategic and slow paced. Also the mage in DA2 is much more action oriented than DA:O.
You should get both games, in Origins while the main character is not voiced, you can be other races like an elf or a dwarf (both male or female) besides human and also have a different background and people with interact with you accordingly, its something that gets you playing the game over and over again

If there is one good thing no one can overlook, was that the stylized Dragon Age 2 is much better and appealing than DA: Origins. You can still tell what is what, but the major changes come in diversifying the look of more major characters.
In Origins, Flemmeth uses some generic old lady model.
In Dragon age 2 though? Well you'll see.

From the demo, and what I saw/read so far, the game isn't exceptional. Out-of-place music doesn't make it any better.
Waiting eagerly for the Witcher 2, will probably get this on steam when it gets down to ten bucks.

Oh wow, this song is pretty cool. But I dunno if it fits DA honestly? I mean I dunno. If they change the feel of the song perhaps to fit the more medieval theme it could work.

I like it.
Not as much as War by 30 seconds to Mars for DA:O though.

Huh, weird, I liked how they went with 30 Seconds To Mars with the last game, This Is War fit really well. This song is really good too though, maybe Dragon Age just has the ability to make anything awesome?

Even though I really like Florence + The Machine, The Faunts for Mass Effect's credits is still the best!

I'd imagine Bioware would have the last word on what "fits" in their game. The fantasy genre doesn't always have to be synonymous with metal and prog. If every developer caved to their fanbase's stylistic choices, the Gnomeregan theme in WoW would be "Let the Bodies Hit the Floor".

Wow this song does not fit, at all. Matter of fact the ending song I enjoyed the most from Bioware was in Mass effect 1 it was M4 Part II. That song fit the game.
I am not a big Florence and the machine fan, but they should have used Rabbit heart. I have no idea how that song doesn't fit better?
This is the song for those that haven't heard it

Haven't played the demo, yet. Oh the cuff though this song doesn't seem to fit. I'll have to hear it in game. Oh and RDR proved that in game music can still take a game to a whole nother level
