Take-Two recently registered a batch of speculation-rousing web domains, each of which sound like possible online extensions of the Grand Theft Auto series' parodic brands and businesses. These include gems like CashForDeadDreams.com, SixFigureTemps.com, LifeInvader.com, StopPayingYourMortgage.net and HammersteinFaust.com. Unless the publisher is trying to earn a few extra bucks by getting into the domain-squatting racket (time to pay up, Six-Figure Temps!), it seems plausible that Rockstar's thought up some gags for the next GTA.
Another piece of evidence for a new installment in Rockstar's crime-filled franchise also appeared in the resumé of Declan Mulvey, who apparently did some motion capture stunt work on "Grand Theft Auto V." For what it's worth, Mulvey tells CVG that the listing was simply a "typo," missing the single Roman 'I,' though a little further sleuthing on IMDB.com turns up plenty of video game work and not a single mention of 2008's Grand Theft Auto IV. Sure, that only lends itself to further speculation, but we think we can confidently confirm that, at the very least, the game is almost certain to contain stunts.

After red dead and LA Noire, makes sense to me they would return to GTA

@Ellimem What's your point?
Rockstar is obviously trying to release one of their signature style open world game per year while staying away from doing nothing but sequels. After LA Noire, it'll probably Agent as their big open world game in 2012, then GTA5 after that. Possibly on a new generation of console hardware by that time.

Play San Andreas, way more diverse (in content) and way more entertaining. You could probably pick it up for no more than 10 bucks these days.

@The Aquacharger I don't see how anyone can say GTA4 was any sort of "bad". Maybe "didn't live up to your unrealistic expectations" might be more keen.

I hear that so much but it isn't unrealistic expectations primarily but fun in diversity. Like Morrowind to Oblivion.

Where did I say GTA4 was bad? I just said it was the worst of the series. I've played every GTA game. I think 4 is the worst. SA and Vice City being the top two.

It's like I love the SMT series. I think they're all great games, but I feel the Persona series is the worst out of them all. They're still wonderful games, but the worst of a golden series. That's how I feel about GTA4. It's a good game, but compared to the rest of the GTA's it's a pile o' poo covered in a weird grey/blue tint like CSI:NY.

i have to agree that 4 was the worst of the series. that said it's still an awesome game just a departure from the over the top style that made GTA fun in the first place. on the other ones, i would complete the story then run around forever just getting into shenanigans. the shenanigans were never really all that fun in 4, it was almost too realistic. so yea, great game, just not nearly as good as the others.

It depends on why you play GTA. Sure, it had significantly less customization and in general crazy stuff to do than SA, but to me it had the best story and characters of all the GTA's. It was easily one of the most immersive GTA games aside from VC. But, this is coming from a guy who's favorite GTA is Vice City. Immersion means a lot to me, and so does story. I welcomed the realistic approach instead of the over the top approach. I mean we can't blame them for trying to do something different. People complain all the time about rehashes.

@The Aquacharger totally agree with you 4 is the worst of the series. Completed the story played some multiplayer then it sat on the cabinet collecting dust. Unfortunately Saints Row 2 took up more of my time as it was more fun to play. Yes graphically GTA 4 was amazing, but it just started off slow and I didnt enjoy going on rampages as much as Vice City or San Andreas.
It would be nice if they did a a proper London GTA instead of the addon missions they released. Although if they went back to Vice City, brought back Ray Liotta as Tommy Vercetti and make it fun I would not complain. :)

the probably with 4 is that it took itself too seriously without having some of the more silliness of the previous games in the franchise. Alot of people missed that and found some comfort in Saints Row 2 for that.

Even though your downvoted I agree.
GTA4 while a good story was lacking in the fun and gameplay of the other games. Though Gay Tony was a nice combination of both worlds (fun like the originals and yet had a good story as well as still keeping it more grounded in reality)

GTAIV's story was horrifically terrible, imo. That was a really, really, garbage story. The gameplay was typical GTA fare which is why I dragged myself through it, but the story was utterly awful and I don't understand why anybody thinks it was any good. Generic and crappy characters, cliche lame story, I really don't get it.

I doubt they're cancelled, but they've most likely been put on the back burner to ramp up production on GTA IV.

I think that whenever more news surfaces about Max Payne 3 it's going to look nothing like it did when it was first announced. I'd say it might even resemble a Max Payne game.

@phatman516 I'm more worried about Agent, since Max Payne 3 is in development at Rockstar Vancouver (Bully studio) it wont be as affected as much by GTA V, since Agent and GTA are both developed at Rockstar North

GTA IV had more features than GTA 3, but honestly I'd rather they let the Saints Row series take the crazy stick and wave it around and introduce more RPG like elements into GTAV, continuing the more serious tone.

@MrKlorox i didn't say GTA was a bad series. It's not, in fact it's quite good. I just said that I prefer the less-serious tone of Saints Row. The larger question now is, however shall I survive knowing that the all-knowing MrKlorox thinks me tasteless? Oh, woe is me. :-|

I hope they inject the fun of the GTA3 series into whatever they've got planned next. It's still too much fun to just do anything you want in San Andreas. I finished the game at around 50 hours maybe? I'm well into my 200th hour now.
Finished GTAIV and haven't played it since.

But a bigger world ala San Andreas could be nice, especially if they add planes.

And remember how San Andreas actually had a checkpoint system? Its ridiculous to think that GTA IV took a technical step backwards and made the game so damn frustrating at points.

I also haven't played GTA IV in about a year, but looking forward to a sequel!

Hmm...GTA V was bound to show up to the party sometime, but I don't think we'll have an announcement at E3, unfortunately. I'd bet that Rockstar is focusing most of their energy into L.A. Noir.
