Check out the video (which contains a fair share of gameplay footage) after the jump. We warn you, though: It's just as intriguing and exciting as the first time you saw "Project Milo," which might send you into uncontrollable spells of worry that a finished product will never materialize. As always, we'll keep our fingers crossed.
Milo's 'drama director' discusses emotion-capture

Milo and Kate -- Lionhead Studios' industry-wowing Kinect demo, first revealed at E3 2009 -- has been in limbo following last September's comment from Microsoft Game Studios boss Phil Spencer, who wasn't "convinced" the product would make it to market. We're still waiting with bated breath for news of some kind of playable implementation, but in the meantime, Milo's so-called "drama director," John Dower, has released a video diary featuring the real Milo (well, the mocap actor) and a behind-the-scenes look at creating the emotion within this would-be virtual boy.

Wow, they actually worked on this for three years? It could work as some kind of Heavy Rain adventure game, but there are too many questions... I guess we'll never know if this game could be any fun.

You COULD be a good parent, or you COULD be like everyone who has ever played The Sims and starve/torture/viciously beat Milo frequently.

Does anyone else find the character in Disney's new movie Mars Needs Mom strikingly similar to some of the final revisions of Milo. It's also even more ironic because the kid's name is Milo as well. I find the similarities uncanny.

I love insightful videos like these. Seeing all this work gives me so much more respect for the project, even if Milo is dead now.

First, the Courier, and then Milo. Come MS, release products that people are actually excited for.

That looks like it could be a great game. A game that would garner critical acclaim and open people's eyes to what's possible when an interactive entertainment medium merges seamlessly with modern technology. So it's truly sad that it will never be released, because everyone knows that a game about a little boy doing normal mundane things will sell like shit. But hey, we can still look forward to Call Of Duty 6:Modern Warfare 3:Future Combat .

So, how is this game generate fun through it's gameplay? I don't play games to make friends.. I got a bar for that.

Ever since I heard this game was in production and seen a video for it I have been so very excited for it. I really hope this means that there will be a final product on shelves. Keeping my fingers crossed as well. Was nearly heartbroken when I heard it might have been canceled. Pre-order and day one buy for me.

Can someone tell me what's exciting about a semi interactive cutscene where you trigger scripted events? I already did that in Heavy Rain, and I've played FMV games back in the 90s. Making you fidget around the living room and try to talk to your television isn't going to make it any more interesting, its just going to make you feel like a schizophrenic. All the Milo demo does is remind me of the Halcyon console, a voice controlled laser disc system briefly sold in the 80s that claimed to have "AI on the level of Hal 9000."
