Nice, I hope they keep the Steven Segal film feel of it, that really made the Darkness beyond AWESOME.

I feel sorry for the guy in the first picture. You know, about to get mutilated by mutant tentacles.

I think I feel worse for the guy getting accosted by that transgender darkling.. It's too small and scrunchy to be an actual lady...

...LORD I'm thinking Gremlins now.

Jackie went got completely overtaken by The Darkness at the end of the first game. He was driven insane while The Darkness controlled him. So, how is he now in control? Hopefully, more will be revealed.

i hope they put in some kind of mission pointer, a la Dead Space 2, because my only complaint about the original game was getting lost all the damn time.

I adored The Darkness. I love games were YOU are the monsters and everyone is scared of YOU. Call it a power maniac or a control freak but making the little people urn in abject terror from me always gets a laugh :3

So far The Darkness 2 sounds beyond awesome. I loved that the heads had personalities in Darkness 1 (Sometimes the right head would snap at the left one and the left one would cower and then snap back), hopefully they brought that back. Also the first person kiss in Darkness 1 was awesome too and the fact you could watch WHOLE 2 hour long movies on the various TV screens in the game...god i need to replay it, its freaking awesome.

My favorite FPS of this gen, hands down, no competition. It's a genre I'm not that big of, admittedly, but it just did so many things amazingly right. Granted the weapon selection was a bit thin, but the Darkness powers, WWI lala land, just the story and setting were so incredible. Words can't describe how much I enjoyed the experience.

I mean, even the people in the subways and all the sly little extra content that got snuck in, such a great, great game. I've kept it ever since just because I figured I'll enjoy it again someday.

@Billlop You just made me want to go play this again... and to think i was wasting time with killzone 3 today, grrrr I hope that the game gets a much "bigger" or sense of a bigger world to play in, the first game it was way to quick to feel like you were in a very small area... Would be cool to walk around do side missions, scare people, etc... and if you could add in Witchblade as a cameo , that would be AWESOME!!!

ps. when the gf died, it was really heart breaking, i mean after watching a movie on the couch and then not being able to save her,,, crushing

great game

@Billlop I was just thinking of that...all the horror movies and games focus on what horrible evils lurk in the darkness Alan Wake, Silent Hill, etc. I love that this game turns you into the boogie man.

I don't like the new artstyle.

Still, I'm glad to hear they took out the subways. I hated that part in the first game.

Um you COULD play the mansion level in The Darkness. The gameplay was interrupted a few times to show the more stylish kills, but the entire mansion level was still playable.

Who's doing the story for this? I hope it's not being done internally. Dark Sector and Pariah weren't known for great narratives.

@KungFuChaosNinja

The difference is that this game is based on a semi-popular comic series, so I'm betting the creators of The Darkness are overseeing the script of the game, much like they did with the first game.

Knowing the answer to this may very well be the deciding factor in whether I pre-order the game. Story and atmosphere were the two strongest points of the original game, and if they're not done justice in the sequel I will not be pleased.

Loved the first game, not a fan of the new art style. Ever since borderlands, EVERYONE is using cell shading which is making everything look too cartoony.

@Ender7
Um... people have been using cel-shading for the better part of a decade now. And since games are still a ways away from true photorealism, I'd rather have cel-shaded (or at least stylized) graphics than ones that wallow in the uncanny valley.

I love the comics and I loved the first game, and this sequel looks like its gonna be great. But I'm still confused as to why they decided to make it an fps. The comics are the furthest thing from that (Jackie rarely uses guns).

According to Gamesradar's preview, it seems like Sonatine and The Brotherhood of The Darkness may be appearing in the game, which I am super excited about too.

@aray48

Well, once I got Darkness powers, I almost never used the guns again for the rest of the game. The powers were much more fun.

I dunno... the whole idea at the end of the first game was that The Darkness was taking control of Jackie and exploiting his bloodlust. Jackie in the first game was more than just a generic antihero, he was a genuinely tragic character; his loss of control and descent into literal and metaphorical darkness was supposed to be a tragic downfall, not something that made him a cool action hero.

I also liked the subway sections, as they gave you some down-time between action sequences and made you feel as if you were part of a continuous world with other people in it, not just running from one setpiece to the next like most action games. I really want this sequel to be good, but I'm starting to get some bad vibes. I hope I'm wrong.

The end of the Darkness didn't disappoint me. You get to play some parts of it but the lack of the incredible powers we saw, I felt, was not only a limitation of the game mechanics at the time, but also an artistic choice. The Darkness was tempting Jackie with every kill, telling him he could have that kind of power if the Jackie (the player) would go further and further. "FEED ME WITH MURDER!" And that's what we did, we killed until we were consumed by our quest for revenge and the Darkness took over. At least we got to see Jenny one last time....
