We just have one question: If that dude is all made of impenetrable rock stuff, why does he need a blow torch to cut through a small link of chain?

You know that Unreal Engine 3 tech demo Epic showed off at GDC 2011? Of course you don't -- we weren't allowed to post it, save for some direct-feed screenshots. That's changed, as IGN has posted the full demo, which you can now ogle for yourself past the break.

Yes I much prefer Joystiq's video player that has 30-second, un-skippable ads followed by an ad at the bottom of the screen that you can only get rid of by opening the ad.

Soo true. Just watch the Battlefield 3 Fault Line analysis video and it feels like junior high school kids trying to analyze it. Do they really have BA in Communication?

Cry engine 3 looks more plasticy than this! And cry engine 3 isnt all that plasticy looking. This looks SO realistic in most places.

Whenever you first try to play an IGN video it'll usually glitch and show a time of -0:01 or something similar. Just refresh the page (even with AB+ installed) and it should work fine. That's what I do.

There's UE2 and 2.5, there's UE3 and 3.5, and now there's this, which I guess would be UE3.75 or UE3.5-2.

Well the underlying tech is Unreal Engine 3, but unlike CoD and some other games, Epic doesn't release a Gears game every year. They give it a good 2+ years for better upgrades to their engine.
For Gears 3, it will be using the most up to date version as far as I can tell.

If this new engine means we'll be seeing developers do more cyberpunk set games, then chalk me up as excited. If it just means more tough guys in brown locales, but this time smoking awesome cigarettes then chalk me up as not so excited.
