Does this have any reflection to the overall state of non-Nintendo developers for the Wii?

I read that they want to send the game tester jobs overseas. It just proves that no matter how many tax breaks companies get ... they will not provide/keep jobs here in America. Not until Americans work for pennies.

If you ever have to layoff people in your company, you failed as a company.

Note 1: shame on people who didn't buy Epic Mickey (that have a Wii, that is. Non-Wii owners are obviously exempt).

Note 2: This sucks. I hope this doesn't perpetuate as a sign of what it will be like for future projects (like Epic Mickey 2, if that's even a consideration at this point).

is this one of those deals where they lay off 80 people, then hire 80 people overseas for a $1,000 then one executive gets a raise equal to 80 american employees' salaries?

@eat it no this is one of those deals where their games dont do very well and people lose their jobs.

Disney is one of the great american companies that doesnt ship most of their work overseas.

@eat it

My wife works for a half a billion dollar company. A year and a half ago they hired some hot shot CFO to "trim the fat", he probably ended up laying off around 15 jobs in November. My wife ended up getting more work for the same pay, more stress too. The next month CFO drives up in a new car worth around $100,000. This country has a sickness where the bottom line is worth more than people's lives, and worst than that there is a bubbling population of cheerleaders that revel in this culture of greed while still making $10.00 an hour and spit on unionized workers because they never fought for better wages or compensation.

Those doubting a new Junction Point Disney game will be proven wrong. Epic Mickey sold well over a million in its first month in North America. Whether it's Epic Mickey 2, the Ducktales game, or something completely different, that team is fine. We'll see something new from Spector and crew in the future.

yeah, disney has no idea what theyre doing in the video game space.

disney announced they were going to become more serious about video games around the same time as warner bros, and look at the vast difference. warner made brilliant moves by purchasing travelers tales, some of midways assets like mk, rocksteady, and monolith (well, theyve owned them for years.. but still). they also seem to make good moves concerning under the radar games by publishing scribblenauts and planning to publish bastion.

i figured disney would do just as good if not better, and i was excited because we need more publishers with a lot of capital (especially companies that make a lot of income from other sources) to publish games than ea, ubisoft, and activision. disney started off pretty solidly with pure and split/second, epic mickey, and ive heard positive things about epic mickey and even guilty party.

i guess i was just hoping disney would get the rights to marvel's games, and we would have some better licensed stuff coming. shattered dimensions showed a lot of promise, but i dont trust activision at all.

oh well, i hope everyone who has lost their job finds work soon.
