Thank goodness the Internet will always capture this moment, the open-mouth, joyous smiley of DigitalFortress.

And not the slow, sick realization moments later that he has payed $60 + shipping for a copy of Homefront.

I have never had a game late, always been 2-3 days before release date.

I don't think you have a clear sense of racism.

Is it bigotry? Yes. Racism? No.

@aussieCanuck the story doesn't get any better and it's the same as any other FPS from the last 10 years except the setting and enemies. i was excited for it too but after finishing it (its very short) i was like "is that it?" at the risk of a downvote i enjoyed the black ops campaign a lot more.

@sticks and since a lot of people are wondering about the multiplayer, the game's too slow for my tastes. there's parts in single player where you're forced to "walk" and i swear he's taking baby steps.

2.5 / 5, yup I get that. Maybe would've given it a 2, but who's counting. Then again what do you expect, it's the same guys who did Frontlines: Fuel of my Butthole.

Glad to see someone like-minded as me, that class Red Dawn as a classic film. I just hope the remake does it justice, and keeps that same rawness to it that the original had.

@Uncle Jesse And it's very unfortunate that the remake doesn't even have Russia. It's Korea now or something, and it's going to have Josh Peck from Drake and Josh.

Makes sense about the Korea thing, they'll probably try to modernize it, which will, no doubt, suck. Still though, Josh Peck is a pretty good actor, if you haven't, you should check out "The Whackness", he's actually got some chops.

Tell us how you really feel. I was expecting to see one star at the bottom after reading this harsh review. I guess there's a star for Hooters, a star for White Castle, and half a star for the last level?

If this game was released in 2007, pre-cod 4, it would have higher reviews and would of been a fantastic shooter. To bad, I was hoping for better with this game.

@When I die bury me a nerd

That's exactly what i was going to say. Which is bull because a game should not be rated in relation to what another game has already done. If that's the case, black ops should have gotten a 1 star because it was exactly like modern warfare 2 or any other cod for that matter. What, didn't THQ pay joystiq as much as Activision did?

I'm not saying this game is amazing, I haven't even gotten to play it yet, but judging from the review, it just seemed like he was basing his whole review in comparison to COD (and battlefield for that matter). It almost seemed like he was looking for something to find that he didn't like.

A game should be judged by how good it is, not by how much it's like (or not alike) other games.

@V3R1TAS

You are so very confused. The primary issue with this game was that it was supposed to be more than just another mindless shooter. It was supposed to have an emotional aspect to it because of what's happening, but that was completely missed. THQ/Kaos completely botched the whole average Joe taking up arms to defend his home and what he loves. You're just a commando running around in this game and that's not what it was supposed to be.

Piss poor level design and horrible ad placement were the other things that killed it. Not because it was like, or unlike, COD.

@V3R1TAS What? How can you demand a rank and rating without allowing for a comparison to something else? I mean any given stimulus (a video game, movie, painting, poem, whatever) is going to evoke comparisons to familiar, or even unfamiliar, things. Especially when trying to categorize and rank it.

What is a 5 star ranking system if not a giant side-by-side comparison to other games and media?

I wish they would take the star system out and just speak on their opinions of the games. People get too fixated on numbers, but I guess Joystiq is hoping to be included when metacritic comes calling and that's why they started including them. I also find that when a team of reviewers remarks on games, opinions vary too wildly. I like to stick to a singular point when assessing reviews.

You'd rather reviewers pretend they are in a bubble and no other games exist?

Why? I'd much rather know if this game is better or worse then something like BFBC2 so I know whether or not to get it or stick to what I own.
